Good question. I've been wanting a D50 pretty bad. I thought if I tried used, I could perhaps go higher.

D70s is a good camera to learn on and it will leave you room to advance. I absolutely love mine. Its a great camera and feels great in my hand.

What is your absolute max budget? I'm just asking so we can help you make an educated decision.
