AM V8 pedal spacing - heel toe downshifting

throttle and brake pedals on my Vantage are too far apart for "heel toe" downshifting. Has anyone addressed this problem?

Try wearing bigger shoes. ;)

stearnsn 09-25-2008 02:44 PM

I don't have a problem with mine but I wear Piloti's at the track.

I always thought the pedals weren't the problem, it's the engine's response speed compared to my GT3 :(

I had a custom gas pedal made that is a bit wider - local shop and they can make more - looks like it was from the factory. This helped ...
Moogle is also correct the throttle response is horribly slow compaired to any P-car, not just GT3s.

Michaell 996TT - Thanks - that's what I was thinking of - can you supply contact info

Thanks! Can you supply contact info for the shop?

thanks. Either your shop or Ultimate Pedals should be able to do the job.

Michael 996TT 09-29-2008 07:10 PM

I did not have any success for AM w/ Ultimate or Rennline ...

Michael 996TT 09-29-2008 07:21 PM

Oh yes ... (sp?) "Mansory makes a full set that have a different look but they are the same size (width) as stock ... and kinda expensive compaired to Ultimate or Rennline sets.

For any others interested - the shop I used to make the wider gas pedal (and it looks great - very stock app.) is C2 Design in Tampa - 813.223.3744 - Chris is the owner.

Wider gas pedal for "heel toe" shifting

Thanks again for the lead. Actually, I didn't reach C2 Design who I would have used based on your recommendation if they had answered the phone (closed for the holiday?). But, Ultimate Pedals (online/phone) had the pedal template in their files (same as DB9 2005) and is making a peddle to match the stock pedal (mounting holes, brushed finish, beveled edges, etc.) but with an extra inch of undrilled metal surface on the left side to "blip" with right side of foot while braking and downshifting - sounds similar to what C2 Design did for you. I'll let the group know how the pedal looks and works when I get and install it.

obsessed - Yes they sound the same. Would love to hear your feedback ... I think mine was about 1/2 inch wider ... let me know if 1 inch feels good or to close to brake for heel/toe.

stearnsn 09-30-2008 03:57 PM

What did your cost Michael? It looks like UP charges around $75

Michael 996TT 09-30-2008 04:04 PM

Good question but I do not have the correct answer - I paid for some design work that I am sure the next guy will not have to ... I like the guys so not that big of a deal ! I think if you are paying $75 you are getting a good/fair deal ...
