The vehicle operates on a CAN BUS system, there is HS CAN and LS CAN..the roof module(CRM) is on the CAN network. So if you have lights all lit up in the dash cluster(ABS, SRS) but the msg error has gone dead(most of the time it is intermitant)...the HS CAN looks like it is being pulled down...the common cause is the roof module(CRM) that brings the network down on a volante/roadster.

With the fault present, unplug the CRM and if vehicle comes back to life..internal fault with CRM..replace

Thank you for the explanation. I will try to unplug the CRM. Where is it located?

Right rear wheel is coming off, and then take out the inner wheel well lining completely, then stick your head in there and look up to the left..black plate with 4x8mm bolts..remove and there it is your CRM

Do you think I can drive car to dealship with this issue? It's not far, about 3km city driving.

Yah, you will be fine, just don't try to open the top..this is all providing the CRM is the concern.

The speedo and tach might not work either, so if you find your passing cars like there standing still..hehe slow down

Thanks Aston.ca, don't forget to honk when you see me. I live downtown.

I drove it to the dealership with the CRM failure. Car drove fine, was a little scarry because of the lights going on and off.

It did end up the CRM as suspected by members there. I love this forum.

I took a video of my CRM failure so people know what to look for:

Cost: $1,500

This was the first time at AM Toronto(Grand Touring), I called them ahead of time that I was coming. I got there and no one approached me or asked for help or knew that I was coming. I wondered around part/service for few minutes, made eye contact with 5 people that did nothing, before I finally asked someone for help. I expected slightly more.

Dealing with service felt little rushed at first, but it got better. I slow things down when it gets to rush. I think it was just people having bad days today everywhere. Jeff is great.

Car will be ready tomorrow, I can't wait for the first may weekend.

uxchamp, you might have missed this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...r-support.html.

It seems your experience at Grand Touring is not unusual. Good result in your case though. Maybe things have improved.

Yes, unfortunately not an uncommon experience but glad your issue got addressed.

Edit - oh and three words, Cars n Gelato, keep and eye on the thread and feel free to come out some time. I've been to a grand total of one of them but the guys (and girls) are great and always welcoming to new participants. Usually kicks off after 1030 to 1100 pm, weather permitting.

I did drive the car to the dealer in that condition. No problem, although I didn't like highway driving with no speedo. Please post when you've got it sorted. Interested if it is a different problem.

I got it all sorted out. Final cost was $1360, not $1500.

Car is running great.

Thanks for the Cars n Gelato invite. I will definitely be going to meet my fellow Astonians. Aston.ca keep me posted when you are heading up there.
