Popping Sound

Had a "decent" day today in NJ so I took the Vantage out for a ride. When I got home I heard a (best description) hollow popping sound from the engine area. With the hood up it almost sounds like it is inside the intake. It is intermittent when it is going, kind of like....pop..pop.........pop.....pop..pop.. Then it goes away. It is not RPM dependent and stays steady when you rev the car. The sound goes away and does not effect performance at idle or going down the road. Also, nothing see on the tachometer.

Thought I would ask the crew and see if anyone had any ideas.

Some of my thoughts were: Its still cold out and maybe the temp is messing with the emission system?

No check engine light or issues otherwise.

Thanks for any ideas!

George

Is it a pop and sizzle? Condensation from the A/C system will drip onto the exhaust manifold, creating a pop sound.

Funny you say that. I have never run the air since it has been cool since I purchased the car. Today, by accident, I hit the AC button and it was running for quite a while.

This sound seems to be coming from the Intake manifold, almost sounds like a very slight misfire in an old muffler, except when it is making the noise, it does not change with the RPM.

Strange. Otherwise, car is running great. As a matter of fact, when I first heard the noise, I got out on the road and drove her a little hard. Came home and no noise while it idled for 10 minutes. Came back out 10 minutes later, started her up and the sound was back. Once again, intermittent and it eventually stopped.

Thanks!

Sorry for the missing information. When I refer to the "intake" I am taking about the top of the engine...the air intake. The car is a 2007 Vantage V8...no N400/420.

Not to sound strange, but is sounds like the sound you make when you stick your finger in your mouth and pop it out! Thats the best description I can give...LOL!!

Thanks for the help.
