Trim Refinish before and after's

As some of you know the trim pieces on our Aston Martin's are prone to cracking over time. My driver side door trim had a nasty crack that was bugging the heck out of me so I decided to look for alternatives. I first called the dealer to get a quote on a new piece but laughed when the parts guy said $1500. Looking for cheaper alternatives, I found these guys (http://www.maderaconcepts.com/) who seem to be well known in this business. I sent some photos over to Madera Concepts who recommend re-veenering and shooting it with clear. The gentleman I spoke to seemed pretty adamant that I send all the trim pieces (over $1k for all) to get a perfect match but I decided to roll the dice and just do the one since my other parts were fine. He assured me they get their stain and clear direct from Aston so it should be a good match. I was quoted $310 plus shipping to refinish the one door trim so I sent it off FedEx ground to get it repaired. About 2 weeks later I receive the new trim piece and was satisfied with the results. Although it doesn't appear they "re-veneered" my piece, it looks like they were able to sand down the crack and just re-clear it. There is still some ghosting of the crack if you look real hard but my wife says I'm being overly critical. All in all I'm satisfied considering the savings over new and there isn't many people who have the OEM stain and clear. So if you are looking for an alternative to buying a new piece give these guys a try. Enclosed are the before and after pictures. I was so excited to get the trim piece back I went right out and started reassembly even though it was 35 degrees in the garage.

When I was active on the XK8/XKR Roadfly forum, Madera concepts were the "go-to" place for getting milky dash wood from the 2000-2001 models restored.

Dan the wood veneer in your db9 is really very beautiful especially with the dark blue interior leather and the exterior slate blue. I have piano wood veneer on obsidian w deviated arctic blue stitching and although its classy it's not contrasting with light colored wood trim, I think the Taylors gray headliner really opens the interior up a lot w a lighter color contrast.

The Bamboo and blue looks terrific! Excellent choice.

I still am thinking if replacing the base ignition buttons and nav cover with the mahogany in by black on black vantage. I think the dark wood would be a nice addition.

db9 2005 ski slope

Madera Concepts just did a simply excellent job refinishing the walnut console on my DB9. Highly recommended, and a quick turnaround too.
