I'm not loving this Aston at all....
Stopped by Aston Martin of Washington DC today, and of course there is some GREAT eye candy there including a pair of new Vanquish's, neither of which I can afford, but they sure are handsome cars. They also bought a full blown race Vantage from Europe to use as a Driver's School car, you can see it on their website - its pretty radical.
They still have two 2012 Virages left, which is a tough sell now that the new DB9 is out and the far superior Vanquish, so in an effort to move one of the Virages, they wrapped it in this horrid Popsicle orange matt vinyl. I thought it made the car look stupid and right out of Fast N' Furious. And I told them so! I could see lots of edges where the wrap didn't fully trim out, and it makes no sense to me why someone would take one of the world's great paint jobs and cover it with this cheap looking crap. Ugh. But then, I don't understand 'fashion' and the like and still prefer a car with a shiny paint finish and no black wheels.

Probably is...Sunir. I'm sure Pieter takes it up there before the sun comes up and everyone can see how cruddy that wrap looks! But they did just get a Madagascar Orange new Vantage in yesterday, so that made up for what they did to the Virage..lol.
Pieter told me the new cars are air-freighted into Dulles on Air France. They start on British Airways, go to Amsterdam, off-loaded and put onto Air France for the trip to Wash DC. $ 4,000 per car.

I'd suggest that they're trying to capitalize on the similarity to one of the test drive Vanquish models that most of us have seen in mags and links. As I recall, the first drives (and pics) were of a matte orange one.
Not saying it will work, but you gotta try something to move that Virage. Maybe someone will see it and like that it looks like the Vanquish they saw in a review.
Can't fault the dealer for throwing a few hundred bucks at it.

Maybe they need to try a wrap with camouflage made of race tracks? Or a mansory kit? If only it had a dash mat...

So much hate on the wrap! I think of it this way. They had a bunch of Virages that aren't selling so they needed to draw attention. The car definitely draws attention as I saw it when I drove by a few weeks ago. It made me take a double take which from a marketing perspective could be perceived as a win. I looked twice at that car and then noticed the Vanquish next to it.
Regardless of looks, it's meant to draw attention and it's done an excellent job to even warrant a post
. How many locals went just to see it, just like the McLaren at Miller.

Lol it's not TOO bad... but I'm not normally a fan of wrap. It takes away from the class/elegance of AM.
Wow, thats orange alright. Not a fan of wraps either but the color is definitely loud! I think loud is sometimes good on a super car but would rather the car be painted from the factory instead of wrapped.
