Oil Change on Vantage V8
Oil Change on Vantage V8
I searched and read the threads on DIY Oil Change. I think I may have missed something. I understand R&R the Oil Filter. I understand removing the two small metal filters that are under the small plates held in position by the Torx screws, and cleaning them. I understand removing the Sump plug and draining the Oil from the Sump. Here's what I may have missed, Is there a drain-plug, that is on the Main Oil Tank (where the dip stick cap is installed), that must also be removed to drain Oil from the Main Oil Tank?

I just completed the DIY oil change on my Vantage with some interesting results...I had to grind off the head of one of the Torx screws that had been stripped by someone else; on re-asssembly, I replaced all four Torx bolts with Allen head cap screws with lock washers.
Thanks very much Don, that's very helpful.
It appears that the Jaguar Oil Filter Part # 72209 will fit the Aston Vantage V8. Can anyone confirm that? Or does anyone have the Bosch Oil Filter part # for the Vantage V8?

I have had all three cut open and had a Engineer make the comparisons, we also could not find this info so decided to compromise 3 new ones and we also found the direct replacement from Coppers Fiaam another well respected EU brand.
IN SA the filter is expensive if you buy it from a AM dealer from Landrover was a small change item
Non OEM filters
I have used JAGUAR PN EAZ001354, others that cross ref. are:FRAM PH5618

No point to using "genuine" AM filters. It is exact same thing as the Jaguar XF filter, but higher priced. Personally I use WIX on everything I drive, whether it is a delivery vehicle or track car, unless of course application is not available, then you just source filters with same or larger surface area of filtration material and proper gasket/thread sizing. :-)
My thoughts. If your AM is still under factory warranty use the AM oil filter. I just did the oil change on my 2013 V8V with 1000 miles. Easy... 3 pans oil plugs, one dry sump drain plug and a new filter. There was plenty of metal shavings found in the first oil change. Way more than I see in a Porsche, those cars have almost nothing in the oil on the first change.
