Linear oily deposit on inside of side glass

I have a new V8V and every time I lower the window on either side there is an oily line on the inside of the glass. I think I have traced it to a felt a couple inches inside the door that presses against the glass to I assume stabilize it. Any one else with this problem and how did you alleviate it?

I noticed this problem the other day on the driver's window. Will investigate later today.

Cool

Yes there is a long rubber piece lined with felt about 3" from top of glass. I removed the interior door panel, then ran a damp rag several times along the glass side of the felt. This appears to have alleviated the line. I would like to understand why this piece gets so dirty being on the inside of the car.

That happened to mine from new. Had it fixed under warranty, then again at about 18 months old.

Only happened on the one side, so it must have been a manufacturing problem

Yankee04, how difficult was it to take off door panel? Any trouble getting it back on? I tried to clean the strip with a thin long piece of metal with a cloth around it with little success. Thanks.

It's very easy.
Pull out the red/white lamp at the door bottom & disconnect cable.
Remove the 2 bolts holding the handle then disconnect the lock release cable. I found it easier to unscrew the base plate then unhook the cable end. This would be a good time to check the nuts holding on the arm rest as I had them loosen up in the past.
Four hex screws on the door bottom. One on side in the upper jam.
Another screw in the circular air hole.
You can now pull the bottom of the panel away from the door a bit. Stick your hand up to remove the power window button cable.
The door rests on 3 thick plastic pins so push it up vertically.

I cleaned the piece in place but you could go farther by removing it entirely. I didn't want to get involved with needing to replace the black screw caps so I stopped diss-assembly here.
I used a wooden shim wrapped with cleaning rag but a spatula would work too. Probably not a good idea to use metal.

Hardest part of reassembly was getting the panel back on. Start with the pin closest to the car front.
