Aftermarket V8V Clutch
Seeking owner reviews on aftermarket clutch & flywheel. So far, I've gather some limited information.
AP Racing (twin plate)
Bambord Rose (BR twin plate) - Not really an option as they don't sell outside of UK
Advanced Clutch Technology (ACT twin plate)
ESX (twin plate)
Exotic Clutch Technologies (ECT single plate)
RSC (single plate)
Valeo (twin plate)
Any other options?

I had an AP racing paddle clutch plate fitted as a replacement for my standard one. It's very hard wearing but suited mostly to track use as it's extremely sharp off the bite. Downshifts are powerful but reversing and slow town driving are impossible.
Swapped it out for another standard one in the end.

So far, we've only 2 votes on BR. Steve's previous AP Racing set but not in the poll. Hopefully more people will turn up with their ownership experience.

I see Exotic Clutch Technologies offers a kevlar clutch on their site, but it seems to be focused on the Lamborghini. Do they make an option for the V8V?
I'd hate to go with the stock replacement when mine eventually gives out. I thought a twin plate option would be great, but I'm hearing here that it might be too aggressive for a daily driver?

I spoke with Barry at Exotic Clutch and they do have a kevlar single disc clutch for V8V.
Twin-plate option would be nice. Unfortunately, the twin-plate AP Racing used to make were horrible in terms of driveability. A friend of mine had it and he had to leave 2-3 cars length between him and the car in front whenever it comes a dead stop. I've heard good reviews on BR's twin-plate but not available outside of UK. Valeo makes the clutch for Vantage GT4 by Aston Martin Racing but they will not sell the clutch for street cars. The AMR Valeo GT4 spec twin-plate does NOT have driveability issues - confirmed with drivers and engineers from TRG and Multimatic racing teams.

Im curious, why would you want a new clutch? Are you feeling any slip on upshifts shifting at redline? if not, I don't see the point. I raced big power V8s for years and have used the stock stuff on other model cars. the only thing I had to worry about was slip from the increased power from stock. greater force pressure plates solved this problem. we are talking stock stuff with a modified pressure place grabbing 500ft-lbs of torque and racing for near 6 years on it, full seasons!
if you are doing it for the lighter weight, that's another discussion too. sure, it will rev up easier for more precice shifts and downshift blips, but don't expect big HP gains. Nothing will really show up on the dyno. its more of a feel thing when you blip the throttle.
everyone seems to go on this "racing " clutch bindge, and in the end, they end up with an undrivable car on the streets, because you need to spin the wheels from a stand still to get moving or stall the engine.
the vantage clutch seems to be very stiff and has lots of grip. what has been the mode of failure? most folks , lets face it, are not nice to their clutches. they leave the pedal pushed in traffic , stopped, or at a light, and they burn the clutch on launching. if you treat a clutch right, it should almost last the life of the engine.
that ad says that the clutch is "100%" compatible with paddle shifters. I don't know much about the AM, but the manual and automatic used the same clutch ?

6MT and SS have different OE clutch part numbers. Also different part numbers for 4.3L and 4.7L. OE clutch life seems to be the weaker point on V8V. A very tall reverse gear does not help the cause. The failing point ranges from 20k-40k in mileage. There are quite a few threads about clutch failure but this one is intended for owners who are or will be considering an upgraded clutch.
