Carbotech brakes

So I have now got to the point where I want to replace the brakes on my 08 V8V rather than flush them out with water every week to stop the squeal that I suffer like a lot of you. It looks like the carbotech compound is most popular out there. Does anyone know if they have slots for sensors now ? If not, does it matter if I just dont reconnect the wear sensors and tie them up with a plastic zip tie or something ? Look fairly straight forward to put in I think. I hope.........

I installed Carbotech on my '08 Vantage and they didn't have slots, so I just tied the sensors off to the side with zip ties. Even though Carbotechs should not squeal, I would still apply a high-quality Anti-Squeal paste just to be sure. Even with that precaution, mine did squeal a little until fully bedded-in. Pads are easy to replace, but you will need a punch and hammer to remove one pin that then lets you remove the spring and other pin easily to replace the pads. Before you remove the old pads, use a tool to spread the pads apart as far as possible so you have plenty of space to install the new pads.

My 07 Vantage squealed like someone killing a pig, never a sound from the 09 I just bought! Not sure what brake pads are used, or if they fixed the squeal in 09.

You don't need antisqueal compound on 1521s, in fact I wouldn't recommend it. The main reason you may hear squeal for the first 20-30 miles until you bed them in is you have to actually wear the old compound off the rotor surface from the pagid pads. If you do a good 10 hard stops from like 60-20mph, let cool off, then repeat... you should completely bed the pads in. Once you do you will have no more squeak issues.

You can specially request brake pad sensor slots, but it will cost more I'm sure. Honestly once you do the 1521 pads, you probably won't ever need to replace them b/c they last so long. You can just zip tie them away it should not be an issue.

If you want to go above and beyond you can also have them custom make the e-brake pads in 1521 compound as well which will guarentee zero squeal since there will be no mixing of pad compounds.

Hope that helps,
007
