The harshest video review of a V8V roadster that I have ever seen
This video is all about "Logic", and for me having an Aston is all about Emotion. It's the emotion that hits me when I look at "one of the most beautiful cars ever designed". This emotion hit's me when I look at it just sitting in my garage waiting to get polished yet again, when it doesn't really even need to be washed. This emotion hits me even harder when I back it out of the garage and once again get my "perma-grin" while driving it. Oh the thrill--and emotion--of finally owning and driving an Aston-Martin!
i have owned 911's, GTR's, ferraris, lambos, lotus', maserati, etc...
the aston is at the bottom of the list... long trips its ok.. but otherwise not fun...
even my "pain in the ***" cars, like lotus/etc were better to DD than the aston..
Honestly, the second I sit in an aston I forget all those points just become insignificant. And to be honest, i dont care about the useless cup holders, ugly navigation, weird position of button. Anyways, you learn to get used to it. Other cars are all focused on the electronics, and I like being able to start up and go and not having to worry if my suspension or gear changes is set to the right setting.
I didnt buy a aston out of practicality. I go kite boarding, and cant fit my gear in the car, as a result I rent a car when I go. Its useless to me in winter. But i forget all about that the second I start it up.

when coming to a stop light, i pray it stays green just so i dont have to start in cumbersome 1st and go to notchy 2nd. and 3rd gear never wants to be found with ease...
i guess some people overlook things, but i can date the hottest girl but i still expect her to be useful and intelligent.
it's unfortunate my dealer sold his 50th anni 991 4S... otherwise the aston would have been gone last week :-/
i buy cars to drive, just now i went and bought some bread and coffee... the coffee's wont not spill in cupholders.. the bread fits on the ledge but slides back and forth.. if it was a porsche.. i could easily have the drinks be safe and the bread in the back seat not moving about..

You obviously bought the wrong car. Porsche is the right car for you. Aston is the right car for me.
drcollie: +1 for all your comments, and especially "explain a BMW motorcycle to a Honda rider". I'm now on my 5th BMW motorcycle and my 4th BMW RT--a 2007 R1200RT (similar to yours).
It also sounds like he bought a bad example and is basing his judgement of all Astons from it. My Vantage has a superb shifter, solid, precise and no notchiness. Also, my brakes don't squeal at all nor do I don't have any wind noise coming from the doors or windows. Makes me wonder if there are just things wrong with his car.

had brakes worked on 5x, doors are tight and seals proper, windows adjusted..
maybe my shifter cables could use some jesus but it will be gone before i attempt that.

Hey Dick - did you read up on the new RT? The new water-cooled engine is a huge step forward in power and delivery over the oil-head boxer you have on the 2007. I rode the new GS with that engine a few weeks ago and was hugely impressed. Best of all, the new RT will come in about 525 lb. That's the one thing I don't like about my K1600GTL - the weight. Its 750lb and though it has 6-cylinder smoothness and power, it's a hump in the driveway and in the parking lots. I might have to consider that new RT in the spring...125 HP and 525 lb is a compelling combo.
The review is by CNET so you shouldn't expect anything about the car or performance and have it be focused on tech. It's what the site is focused on...
Interesting points wa1l1in.
I've never experienced this with the many 6 speeds I've driven. I'd get it checked out. If you look on the forums, most rave over the gearbox.
I agree 100% on this. The Read button took me looking through the manual to find!
The stock pads do squeal like a pig. I swapped mine out in both cars to the Porterfield R4-S I think. They worked great and no squeal.
Never had this issue. I had a roadster and coupe and neither had this problem. Might want a different Aston mechanic look at it.
This is a first. I haven't seen anyone complain about the Aston seats before. It's personal preference I guess. Regarding the suspension, I'm not sure what you are looking for. The Aston is a GT so the suspension will be leaning more towards performance but won't be 911 stiff or Bentley soft. I would think you'd weed these things out during the test drive.

the shifter is beyond vague, i have always had cable linkage shifter cars and never one as vague as the aston...
the button layouts are confusing and noone should ever have to do stuff in a certain order for something to work, the nav "enter" button and surrounding buttons especially..
sorry for the hate, but i've been trying to live with the car for a month and its very difficult... the worst are the "read" and t1/t2" controls on dash... they should be in the cluster somewhere for ease of use... also the light buttons should be near/on the lights... no reason to move stuff superfluously...

and the brakes regardless of what you do squeal
wind noise in doors regardless of adjustment
the seating is too relaxed and i always find myself changing position and adjusting...
...suspension stiff but poor, some remote reservoirs with lots of fluid movement and it might be better

The same guy reviewed the 2009 DB9:
Oddly enough, some of the same things he complains about in the Vantage are "ok" in the DB9.
I agree with a lot of his points on the Vantage. On the new DB9/facelifted Virage, I'm completely honest when I say it's the best car I've ever owned (even more-so than my California, Gallardo, Vantage and various Porsche's). Most of the reasons boiled down to build quality (a lot of control switches would break off in the California, exhaust rattled, leather wears quicker, etc and over time the paint on the Gallardo's switches would rub off).
Aside from the California, the DB9 is a completely different car, I know. But it definitely felt like Aston got/gets it right with the DB9 in terms of overall product satisfaction.

He does not understand the charisma of AM? give the dik a mazda or a boxter he will be just fine, AM is like scotch, its an acquired taste.
Its a a marque that will forever set us apart from the guys who buy cars in order to impress people they dont know with money they dont have.
I like to arrive almost incognito with the reaction that its almost not noticed until its noticed.... cant do that with a R8 or a Boxter or wateva!!!
I remind all that 87% of AM are cash sales again setting the owners apart from the Audis and feraris or wateva FUCEMTOO

No it's not the same. They might all have the same manufacturer but they are completely different. I've owned both the SportShift 1 and 2 and there is no comparison.
