New "special Astons" to be featured in Geneva
|
The comments are funny and many are true, sadly. I'm all for making cars more racey but the lipstick look is just ugly.
|
I can't believe they are still stuck at 430 hp. At least make it an N450

On a side note, I like the idea of a Carbon White and Carbon Black for the DB9. |

Wow. That is some nasty stuff.
It's really sad. Ugly paint jobs and marginal technological advancement. They should just abandon this whole lipstick marketing ploy. I am not sure it's working. |
I think the title should be
"NOT SO NEW special Astons to be featured in Geneva" The N430 is just an S with awful graphics options :( |

I wish some one would drag Bez away from the parts bins and off for some better inspiration elsewhere The lipstick thing is an well overworked aspect of a few racing paint schemes AMR have used (IIRC started on the DBR9's) |
My 2005 car is lighter and faster 0-60 then the N430. Rolling road session planned.

Seems like a real large leap backwards..just my 2cents
either way..not coming to N.A |
Adding lipstick and graphics and calling it special does not make it so. The real problem is everyone sees this but Aston. Is there no R & D of any kind?

..or just buy a base model and work with Stuart to twin charge it with the extra money you saved...Hmmm now I'm thinking I should buy a TIG..wonder how much that could run me for just doing exhaust tubing??

Simply modifying the exhaust with proper headers, higher flow cats and a lighter titanium exhaust would have bumped the horsepower 10% to 473 right Stuart?

If AM had the resources $$$ that GM has then I would imagine their vehicles would be world class performers. Clearly GM should have been producing a Vette of this calibre 30 years ago. I leased a C5 and couldn't wait for the 36 months to be up. It soured me against even thinking about getting another Vette. Folks say the interior is much improved over the prior model… but its still not a bespoke as an Aston Martin's interior. Maybe I'm too old-school but the video screen instrument graphics don't do it for me and I much prefer the simplicity of my V8 Vantage S set-up.

Tune alone gets the old 4.3L to N430 level, then cats will take you to 450ish. Headers and filters will get you to 475ish. All for tiny fraction of the cost. I really have no idea what is taking them so long to up the power further than 430.
The only good looking one is black with silver lipstick (least obvious of all the options). Purple is downright hilarious haha |

I'm biased but I like what Ferrari did with the Challenge Stradale and Scuderia. They made it more race focused and added a stripe to clearly differentiate it. Aston could also do this as another forum member(forgot who) did on their V12V. The have the separate hood for the V12V which is subtle and not over the top. Why not do something similar but with a stripe or other livery that isn't so flamboyant. |
I'm in agreement.
I came from a Maserati. They distinguished it with the MC Stradale. Markings ... different splitter ... different front fender. Same thing they did as you mentioned in the Stradale and Scuderia. The Aston guys did their differentiation but unfortunately its not the liking of majority. Its is a personal thing. I did do the lipstick thing and the vast majority said WTF? .. like why? ... lol I still like the different look it carries and it does stick out a little more while the other Aston's seemingly just blend in the sea of other exotics in meets ... same way a black Gallardo just disappears while a yellow or red or orange one pops out!

The lipstick looks great on a race car but the street version is a lot different and has a lot less decals to accent the highlights of the lipstick.
