How do I get the reverse mirror dip feature to work?
I have a 2010 Aston Martin V8 Vantage 6 speed, and I can't get the reverse mirror dip feature to work! In the car settings menu, I have the auto dip in reverse gear option selected, and I have tried both "Passenger only" and "Driver and passenger" options. When I shift into reverse, the mirrors don't dip down.
What's the secret? Thanks for any help! |
Make sure mirror adjustment is on left drivers mirror, should work now.

This happened on my 2010 XKR once. I took it to the dealer and they did a hard reset of the cars electronics (i.e. they did the equivalent of disconnecting the battery).
This did a hard reboot of the body control units/computers and they started working/dipping again. This may be a potential fix for the Aston cars as well. If you disconnect the battery you may have to reset other items such as window travel so be forewarned. |
On my Virage you go through a series of settings somehow using the right knob of the radio and another button. As usual I can't remember how but I became so frustrated at the reverse dipping I was able to muster the patience up and keep hacking away until I found it.

Is this a feature available on 2007 Vantages?
|
up to 2010 it was dealer activated using the diagnostic equippement if you have the power fold mirrors.

And don't disconnect the battery. If you do, the mirrors stop folding & require the dealer to reset both the folding & dip via OBDII.

If I'm understanding you right, I have to have the dealer activate the dip feature, even though there's options to enable and disable the dip feature in the cars menu? WTF.

The feature is available from 2008 and newer. It wouldn't work on my 2007 V8 Vantage with power fold mirrors even though Aston's diagnostic computer showed it as a feature. Sorry.
