It is interesting to note that Aston is seeking a waiver for the DB9 until August 31 2016 and for the Vantage until August 31, 2017 which should give you a clue as to what their planned new vehicle introduction schedule currently is.

Thanks for that! This is stressful indeed; I am scheduled for test drive this week to see if I can live with the sportshift. But my lease is up august 2015 arggggh what to do...

They should have more allocation by 2015 right?

EDIT: Sorry I reread some of the most recent posts and realized you already answered my question. Sorry about that...

I don't know how this will impact anyone who has a DB9, Rapide, Vanquish or V12VS already on order.

I'd guess they will start taking orders for 2015's in a few months.

As far as I understand it is Aston not taking any more orders, not the dealers. Depends if they still have build slots available, how many they ordered etc.

If anyone still wants a 2014, email me, I can still get you one.

Stuart,

I have my suspicions that Aston has stopped taking orders because they have reached the limit of cars they can build before September 1st when the new amendments to FMVSS 214 regulations come into play. Any cars built that would be delivered after that date will not be able to enter the country until the waiver gets approved. I suspect that once (if) that happens, Aston will once again start taking orders.

Again, Aston has not revealed this to be the case, at least not publicly that I'm aware of. However, it makes sense to me. Otherwise, why not simply continue taking orders but with later delivery dates? It's not like Aston is in the financial position to simply turn customers away.

This would also explain why they temporarily ceased production of the Vanquish and Rapide. Those cars already meet the regulations so it's best to build as many non-compliant cars as soon as possible—especially when the Vantage is their best selling model and a compliant replacement won't be available until 2017.

Having dealers take orders when Aston themselves are not accepting them is not good business practice and almost downright unethical. Imagine how many potential customers you would **** off if you take their deposit money and then after many months, if the waiver isn't granted, you have to tell them that their car will never be delivered. This is probably why each dealer was offered an allocation of units and once that has been met, they can't order any more. As you suggest, there might be a dealer somewhere that hasn't yet taken all the orders for their pre-September allocation, but it would be hard to find which one.

All-in-all, this is good for Aston sellers in the short term. Anyone trying to buy a Vantage is going to have to buy used or any existing new inventory in the dealer network so you might see prices on both go up slightly.

Your suspicions may well be correct. Agreed that taking orders on cars that will not be accepted is unethical.

Nonetheless, there are still 2014 build/delivery cars available, if you know where to find them

I agree as well about the limited supply. I told someone who was on the fence about trading an '07 on a GT, I think there is an awesome value proposition and opportunity to buy right now, and with limited supply it only looks more attractive!

Let's sort the buyers from the spyers, the needy from the greedy, and those who trust me from the ones who don't, because if you can't see value here today, you're not up here shopping. You're up here shoplifting. You see these goods? Never seen daylight, moonlight, Israelite. Fanny by the gaslight. Take a bag, c'mon take a bag. I took a bag home last night. Cost me a lot more than ten pound, I can tell you. Anyone like jewelry? Look at that one there. Handmade in Italy, hand-stolen in Stepney. It's as long as my arm. I wish it was as long as something else. Don't think because these boxes are sealed up, they're empty. The only man who sells empty boxes is the undertaker, and by the look of some of you lot today, I'd make more money with me measuring tape. Here, one price. Ten pound.

.....Sorry not sure what happened there

Just a couple of notes to add. Whatever the other reasons are for the dealers no longer taking orders on the GT models, from speaking directly to Aston that car is simply a limited model.

First I've heard of the GT being a limited edition. Were you told how many were being produced? If true, I find it odd they wouldn't have a numbered plaque. Many times "limited" means "limited to as many as we can sell". Case in point, the original V12V.

Also, care to share the price on the Q exhaust tips?

The V8VGT was described as a limited edition from day one, I've just never seen anything indicating what that limit is.

The number told to me was around 100.

Sorry, no price was given. I contacted Aston and asked to have them added. My original order was simply for the black ones. I asked to have them switched to the Carbon Fiber tips when I saw them in the GT brochure.

If it's only a limited edition, this makes no sense to me. Aston finally has buyers lining up to buy one of their products so they're going to discontinue it after only selling a few? I just don't get what Aston is doing these days. Seems like they've lost their way.

Could you point me to a place where it says limited edition? Anywhere. All the descriptions I have seen on the official Aston documentation have used the phrase "Special Edition" which does not imply limited. Are you sure you guys or your sources didn't confuse the terms?

Don't get me wrong. I'd love for my new car to be a limited edition. That being said, a limited edition of a limited production exotic car isn't that much more unique.

Have you finally been given a delivery date? My dealer is guessing mine will be built in early-mid July with delivery sometime near end of August, but nothing official has been mentioned.
