Grinding noise when starting off in 1st gear... Any ideas?

Hi guys,

I have a Vantage (sportshift, 17k)

Recently I've been noticing that sometimes there is a slight grinding/crunching noise when I start moving from a stop in first gear. Doesn't happen all the time though. Seems to be coming from around the front wheels.

Car just had it's yearly service a few weeks ago and clutch isn't showing any signs of slipping when driving.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Or any ideas what this could be?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Potentially sticking caliper if not a gearbox fault?

Upper control arms? The bushings like to come loose in the arms and cause all kinds of weird noises. Grind, popping, squeaks...you name it.

I have a similar issue with my 2008 Sportshift V8V. Some times when I pull away from a stop, the clutch makes a grinding noise. It’s quite noticeable. It doesn’t happen every time, and it seems to happen less often if it’s in Comfort Mode. Should this be a reason for concern?
Tips on things I could do to fix / prevent it?
