The rear had the US bumperettes, but strangely they didn't have any illumination. When I pulled them (and the rear license plate holder off) to rectify that so I could pass Texas inspection, I discovered someone had already put in the Euro style license plate lights and trunk release so it was a no-brainer to do as the OP did. I covered the holes with some spare Xpel until I could get them filled and painted.

I've since had the holes filled and paint done at Katy Coach Works. I couldn't bring myself to just drill holes into the decklid since it's two layers with a gap, so I instead have a thin 'adapter plate' to match the US plate and 4 of the existing holes.

The trunk release alone makes this modification worthwhile.

Gary,

Could you post a picture of nighttime with the light on please. I just did this today, and well the plate is NOT lit up hardly at all. The lights focus more back to the top part only. Thanks

Hmm... never really paid attention to it at night. I did replace the license plate and trunk lights with white LEDs which helps. The picture does show it a bit brighter than what it actually is in person in the garage tonight with garage door light off.

what did you do to make it so bright, mine even with LEDs doesn't illuminate the whole license plate, just the top part. NOW i am using the light bracket for a DBS trunk. Maybe early european brackets are what is needed. If you can let me know that would help

I really didn't do anything special other than good LED bulbs. Like I said, the camera does make it appear a bit brighter than it does in person. Mine was put on by a previous owner, not sure what the p/n or which one it is. Maybe you could space out the bottom bolts further to angle the plate more?

*edit* Mine are this style bulbs. Not sure what the difference is between these and their Zevo line *edit*
