Grille modification (from 8 to 6 elements)

Hello everybody!

I have decided to modify the grille of my Aston Martin V8 Vantage from 8 elements to 6 elements by myself.

Here is the result, laborious and satisfactory ;)

Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Thanks to everybody!

Beautiful!

So much better! I've been thinking about this as a project as well. Someone on the board here converted it to a 4 bar grill, but the 6 is the sweet spot. How difficult was it to get the front vertical pieces nice and smooth?

PS I follow you on instagram and you post some really nice pics!

Wow, that came out great. You're a brave soul for doing that!

looks good but why do this? is it just easier to clean?

Project for next winter?

Outstanding. I can not tell the difference between Aston's 6 blade and the one you created.

What did you use to fill the extra slots in the vertical bars? Perhaps something like "Bondo", a 2 component auto body repair material available everywhere in North America?

I liked the "tougher" look of the 6 blades vs. my 8, but was put off by AM's $500+ price over their parts counter at the time.

This could be a project for next winter's storage period. STILCARS you showed it could be done, as well as how to do it.

Wow really nice work. Looks great

At first I wondered why you had to sand down the stock 6-bar verticals, but then I re-read your post and saw you did the conversion from the 8-bar grille. Really impressive, great job!

Thank you!

Easier to clean, yes. And the larger spacing gives a slightly more sporty look.

Impressive.

Did you paint the chrome slats or wrap them? I want to convert to a black grill and am thinking of simply wrapping the slats in a matte black so they are easily converted back. Also thinking of wrapping the side strakes. Carbon strakes look great but are pricey.
