Differences: V8V vs Vantage GT

Were some corners cut with the GT i.e. different quality leather, etc or is it simply a great bargain?

IbisRider 10-18-2015 04:10 AM

Mostly the latter. But optioning up a GT you can very quickly wipe out the "great bargain" concept. I mean, it's still a great car and a great price, but...

The GT base is just more base than the standard V8V.

I had both Vantages. The GT I have (bought from stock, not special order) is very nice, however the Alcantera I feel somewhat 'cheaper' than the all leather Interiors I had in the past two Vantages. Otherwise no real difference. Apparently you can order the 16 Vantage GT (if the GT is still order-able) with standard leather now.

You cannot order a 2016 Vantage GT. They only made a handful. The only Vantage you can order now is the GTS.

That's what I understood - the GTS is the opposite isn't it as far as pricing - more expensive than less? What have you been able to find out on the GTS?

So, I would think since I have a 2016 GT. That this was not true?

I went from a standard non-s to a GT last year. It is essentially a vantage s with less interior glitz - a true bargain as long as you were careful with the options. Compared to my 09 tan interior, the alcantera looks and feels cheaper. The seat however I think because of recent changes is more comfortable. You get fine touches that are apparent improvements like better gps, rear cam., better sportshift, tire pressures shown on the display, in all great refinements sorely needed. The newer gts in luxury form or carbon option saves about $30,000 or so if you ordered the items separately.

I think the GT may just be the best deal Aston may ever have on a new car. I may upgrade to the 2018 if I can afford it though - if they don't weird it like the DB-11.

They were pre made not special ordered. Probably less than 100 exist. They were only made for a few months and then immediately replaced mid cycle by the GTS

Yep. As I understand it from my research, they failed new side impact crash requirements, so they ceased production. The GTS is the updated version.

Someone will correct me when I'm wrong, but as I recall all Vantages & DB9s fail the side impact tests. This would include the GTS and any other special editions. Aston made a huge fuss about the costs associated with chassis redesign which is why they were able to get the exemption until 2017 for Vantages.

007 Vantage 09-23-2016 06:27 PM

No the GTS does NOT pass side impact, they reason they did GTS is it's the last hundred or so units before they run out of allocations/materials before the vantage is done. None of them pass hence the abrupt end to what is one of the longer production runs in modern history.

GTS is just another prepackaged special edition. I still prefer the GT to the GTS, I think it's a better package overall

Thanks for the clarification.

I think all have side impact protection but not with qualifying using the latest standards

Correct, that is what we meant. The new standards kick in early 2017
