2009+ Valet Key Upgrade
Hi Folks,
Obviously the glass/ crystal key is gorgeous, and infinitely unique. But the other key, made of plain black plastic is painfully dull in comparison. I wanted to see what I could do to augment it if even to a small degree.
Took quite a bit of doing, but happy to share if anyone cares.
I hope these late night photos are somewhat representative of what I've done.
What do you think?

Totally agree...the non-crystal key looks and feels cheaper than a garage opener. Definitely not acceptable for an AM in my opinion.
Your updates version looks great. Would be interested in hearing what you did to spruce yours up.

I bought a pair of these cheap AM cufflinks on eBay for $9:

Then used a dremel and a cutting wheel to cut the back off, then the dremel with a sanding wheel to smooth out the stub and make the back flat. Then used a set of pliers to shape/ curve the logo. Then, the last step, I used a very thin (very thin) bit of JB Weld to permanently adhere the logo to the top of the key. Viola! Make sure no JB Weld gets left on the edges of the logo. When you press the logo onto the key some may squeeze/ ooze out of the sides, wipe it off as quickly as you can. Really not hard at all. I now feel just (well, almost) as good using my black plastic key as I do the crystal/ glass key.
Looks amazing in the ignition, too.
