Audi R8

I have recently been blasted for my comments about a mate who drives a R8.
So I posted on the Audi forum (6speed) some questions regarding the R8 thinking the boys would be as helpful as the team and enthusiasts on this forum? I have always had very good advise from the ASTON guys but not one answer to two basic questions from the Audi thread.
So my mate comes into my garage and down the entire wall is what could be described as a 'snap on" show room with almost every tool they make in both Imperial and metric as well as metric inc. He was impressed and eluded that he has a secret wardrobe in his garage and inside is collection of heels and woman's langery but the heels are all Prada:) but sadly no tools.

So Mr R8 pops in and wipes his feet sits down grabs a cold one and asks if i can help him with the R8 as he is now comfortable that he is in a man cave of biblical proportions

Can any one on this forum help with who makes aftermarket carbon parts for the R8 and possibly the K&N filter part number for the airfilter?

I have managed to find ABT by using google for the carbon but we are not exactly spoilt for choice is Audi not widely customized?

despite him and I having very different outlooks on life I really would like to help him and welcome that he is now considering tinkering with his car
also the K&N is it bespoke for the R8 or is there a compatible alternate?

Is the R8 a 4.2L V8 or a 5.2L V10? They're unique to the applications.

Not sure about carbon products, but K&N filters are super easy to get.

I have no answer to your question but did get a laugh out of the in depthness of the description of your mate haha

My buddy just bought a 2010 v10 R8 with 20k miles and I took it out for a spin last week. Wow! It is very smooth with incredible power and impressive brakes. Very different feel from my V8V... The clutch and steering are very light and while the aluminum gear gate looks cool, it takes some getting used to. I was not very impressed with the interior as it looks and feels more 'pedestrian'. But overall, an impressive car. Unfortunately, it was on a flatbed Sunday for oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold. Tough to stomach after less than a month of ownership. Good thing he bought an extended warranty!

Can't help you with carbon fiber upgrades. His came with an impressive list of parts that were upgraded to cf by the original purchaser, something like $20k in extra bits from the dealer when it was purchased.

Got a couple of nice exhaust options, can do tunes with our VTech programmers too. The V10 especially does well as it is detuned vs the LP560 variant from the factory.

Google 'Neidfaktor' for Carbon fiber parts. Though they are based in Germany, not sure about delivery costs to US.
