New rear view mirror

Just looked at the Austonbits website for a new rear view mirror for the USA market. The information says it has to be programmed by a main dealer.
Is this correct? Programmed for what? Maybe Irish can shed some light on this?

Auto-fold funcationality has to be done by the dealer, depending on year.

smdzucladoc is on a distinguished road
Do you mean the mirror with homelink? My car had the regular rear view mirror without homelink and I replace it with a used one with homelink and it was plug and play.

There is no programming that needs to be done by the dealer.
