DB9 - Can't Clear P1000
 

Hello all,

I just picked up an '07 DB9 w/ 12k miles and am loving it so far. While it passed emissions in its previous state, I ran my OBDII scanner on it when I got it home and cleared out a couple old codes that were present (no CEL/MIL). Now I'm stuck w/ the P1000 code and can't register the car until it clears... I found the following instructions (Ford drive cycle instructions) and followed them from a cold (8 hr) start, but the code is still there:

EVAP - Cruise at 72 to 104 Km/h (45 to 65 MPH) for 10 minutes (avoid sharp turns and hills) Note, to initiate the monitor: TP MODE should =PT, EVAPDC must be >75%, and FLI must be between 15 and 85%

All the tests have completed except the EVAP. I also realize the tests only run the first 30 minutes of drive time. Does this need to be done multiple times? I'm not sure what else to do.

Off the top of my head I think you need to drive a couple drive cycles for EVAP to flag as set.

Have you seen the car around?

If your DB9 is a convertible and you bought it from Chris in Pewaukee then I have seen the car a few times.

If you didn't buy it from Chris tell me a little more about your car. You don't see a lot of Astons in the Milwaukee area.

Nope, didn't buy it from Chris, but I did see his Volante online and got his info from Al at GT Motorsports in Pewaukee.

The wife and I preferred the look of the coupe so we ended up going out to DC and driving it back (w/ two kids in tow). Tungsten Silver, clear tails, sport wheels, auto (unfortunately), 12k miles, got it for ~ wholesale. Full service records, had PPI done at Aston of DC. Not seeing them around town was a big part of our purchase decision!

Sounds nice! I've known Al at GT Motorsports for 10 or 11 years. He's done all the work on my Ferrari over that time and did a clutch in my Vantage this past winter. I also made his web site.

It's kind of the end of the driving season now but maybe we'll see you in spring. There's always plenty to do then.

30MPH for a couple minutes, constant throttle, up to operating temperature. Same at 50MPH, same at 70MPH.

Keep the steering angle down. It will complete the drive cycles and clear the P1000 eventually.

Congrats on the new AM DB9!!! I am glad you finally decided to get the one in DC. I am pretty sure you are one of the 3 people who emailed me about PPI there. Enjoy, I cannot wait to pick mine up in Dec.

and the AC needs to be off as well if I remember correctly.
