DBS Velocity Tune review and a few pics
Whats up guys! I wanted to write up a quick review about my recent Tune that got from Stuart @ Velocity.
I'm on my second DBS over the last 4 years and this one is sticking around my collection for good. 2009 Casino Royal. I Love everything about this car!
Ive done a few mods, exhaust, suspension and wheels but never really cared about doing anything HP wise as this is not my "hot rod" but with that said i was always disappointed by the lagging throttle response in some RPM ranges and poor throttle feel in first gear whet WOT. The car always felt like there was a "tune" issue from the factory. I would only feel this when I would start driving aggressively but normal driving conditions were OK.
Well, with this Velocity Tune, this car feels like something else. Just the tune alone turned this thing in to a beast. I feel ALL the HP now and this thing pulls so much better through the entire RPM range. Above 4k it actually feels like VTEC kicks in LOL. Even a few passengers noticed the major difference. This is the way this car should have left the factory.
Amazing product and even better service. Anyone that has one of these V12s is doing themselves a disservice by NOT running this Velocity Tune. I cant believe I waited this long to do it. Shame on me lol
I have to post some updated pic but here is one I snapped with my iPhone.

Wow man!! Great picture! I love his tune in my DBS as well.. Such a game changer.
What type/size wheels are those? They look fantastic.. Like Vanquish wheels. Also, which springs are you using.. That stance is perfect. Great job man!

Great looking car, and thx for the report!
Am a DBS owner too, and enjoy the Velocity tune since last year. See my report HERE.
Happy driving!
PS: I can not login anymore on the "new" AMOC forum / website, and I just created an account on this forum (besides my existing PH account) in a mouse click, so how difficult can it be AMOC.....?

Don't know if everybody can read the link to my earlier review on PH, so here a quotation:

Since RON98 (and RON102) is readily available here (and in Germany), I decided to take the plunge. Did my research again and find out there are a few companies that offer a serious solution, and had good references (like BR). Pity was that most of them required to send in the ECU, so your car was idle for a while, or you had to drive to the vendor itself, while all of them where far away in other countries, this was also not a very good option for me.
By coincidence, I encountered VelocityAP, a very professional company from Canada, and with very good experience with tuning Aston Martins.
It concerns this solution: http://www.velocityap.com/Aston-Mart...ing-s/1831.htm
The mapping probably will be similar to other reputable vendors, but the great advantage is that they not only have experience with V12 Astons, their tune is also very easy to implement using the portable programmer they supply with it. And the best part is that you can switch between different tunes as much as you like and of course this includes an easy way back to the original (stock) mapping when needed (for instance when you will travel to a country with RON95 or lesser fuel).
Then my first test drive (with the RON98 profile)….......unbelievable what an improvement this is. The V12 is of course already very smooth, and seems perfect, but now the engine is more responsive (which does not mean extra power, but just makes driving much more involving), but also the engine is more alive above 5500 tpm (this probably has to do with the better ignition timing). Normally I drove the DBS always low in the revs, now it is also fun to drive higher revs. Drove to Germany and it was much more easy to get to higher speeds than before (reached 270 km/h easily, traffic prevented me to try higher speeds, but will try another time).
The good news is that it also resulted in a better mileage (approx +50km on a full tank) and as an extra bonus, the exhaust flaps open when you puss the throttle more (also below 4K rpm) if you want (so a switch you can operate with your right foot :-)).
Since it is a natural aspirated engine, I did not expect such a difference, but it is more than worth its money.
You can even go further by have new (race) cats, filters and headers (probably similar to the BR solution?), but that might be too far from keeping it “original” for most people.
.............
Now also test drove the RON 102 profile, ie with 1 extra degree of ignition timing. It is little more "agressive" especially higher in the gears, but not so much improvement of course as between the original profile and the RON 98 profile.
The RON 98 profile alone is worth every penny, it makes it a better car.

Thanks! My lowering is completely custom. I wrote up full details of what i did here. Check it out:

These do look like vanquish wheels. This is why I chose them. They are PUR and are 21x12.5 rears and 21x9.5 fronts. Im running 345s and 255s. Rear tires are euro spec and can only be purchased from Europe. The 325s that i was running before were a bit too stretched for my liking and 355s are way to bulky for this car.
The stance and wheel offset/tire combination took a few months to get right. Now i have a few extra tires and springs in the garage LOL No one really mods these cars so I was my own guinea pig, but its not the fist time for me so I welcomed the challenge. Im more than happy to share all so you guys can benefit from my experience.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Anton. I'm glad you like the tune so much. We are all gearheads at VelocityAP and it's smiles from happy customers that makes it all worthwhile.
When can we tune your Rover?

This is not a so much of a HP gain upgrade but a tune that frees up all the existing power that is limited by the factory tune. I'm sure there's a small 5-10hp increase but that's not what makes the car feel alivel. It does feel like an easy 50HP upgrade but i know its coming from the factory restrictions being lifted.

You have my attention. Do you run any pricing promotions during the year?

Wait, I'm confused. On Range Rover or DBS?
