i agree with you, but every manufacturer is having to enter the SUV market or lose sales to another brand. the SUV market is so (ridiculously) strong in the US, even Bentley, Rolls, and Lambo have had to enter it. i hated to see Porsche enter with the Cayenne, but it was quickly their best selling model, now overtaken by the Macan, iirc. Porsche now sells way more SUVs than they do sportscars. i hate it, but it seems to be a necessary evil. BMW now has SEVEN SUVs in their line up. SEVEN!! that's insane! i'm still a wagon hold out, but my wife does drive a '19 xc60 - i did my best to get her into the v90 wagon. i'm now just waiting on Ferrari's SUV entry...
