Why wouldn't you inspect a piece like that immediately upon receipt? Carbon fiber parts aren't easy to make... when I order one, I inspect the hell out of it the moment it arrives to make sure it's what I paid for.

It sucks that it happened, but I'd have been hugely surprised if the manufacturer just replaced it after a year and a half of not hearing about it. How do they know that, in the year and a half that it's been in your possession, you weren't reckless with the package?

Sounds like they are being very reasonable. What is the expiration date on a claim for FedEx or UPS, 6 months? You only get 90 days to dispute a credit card charge.
2 years is way too long to expect a full refund/replacement. The responsibility to check the parts is yours.

Perhaps they didn't miss it because it wasn't there when they packaged it. That looks like an impact fracture (or perhaps a crack from being bent, but it looks isolated to the front edge only). Perhaps the box took a hit in transit... and then it'd be the responsibility of the shipper (I'd hope that was insured during shipping). But because you took 18-24 months to actually inspect what you paid for, the shipper wouldn't accept responsibility...

Sorry not sorry. If you pay for something like that, it's your responsibility to inspect it upon receipt... not two years later when it's too late to properly rectify any issues. RSC is not wrong for not replacing something that may not be their fault.

If I was paying 1000$ for an item you would be damm sure I would open and inspect every nook and cranny for faults and damage the moment it arrived , even if I had no intention of using or mounting the product in the near future .
Its the recipients responsibility to be sure what they get is what they ordered and it arrives in the condition it should IN A TIMELY MANNER .
I know its xmas season of good will and all that but you really have no one to blame but yourself .
Expensive lesson learned the hard way .

I'll just echo what's already been said. It doesn't matter if the box was perfect and it was bubble wrapped, RSC could have sent you a broken piece and it's still your job to open it immediately to inspect it. Buy anything in a box from Best Buy and open it 2 years later, discover it doesn't work, and ask yourself what responsibility Best Buy has?

And being bubble wrapped in an undamaged box, I will show a few pictures of what Fedex did, box absolutely undamaged, bubble wrapped. You never assume anything when purchasing something you haven't personally inspected yourself and carried out of a store with you.

First off I would like to thank everyone for their understanding with regards to this situation and not trying to pile on.

This splitter was purchased July 2nd 2014 over 3.5 years ago. The first time we were informed of any damage was December of 2017.

I have spoken to Darren directly and offered him cost pricing on a replacement, he informed me that he was not interested and that he would remove this thread.
