BG Brake Squeal

I have a question about applying BG brake squeal. I want to apply the compound now while my car is still up on jacks stands. Is it ok to apply it, and not drive the car right away? It will probably be another few weeks before I can drive the car.

From my understanding, it is a brake pad treatment, so the time of application is not really a factor. And you'll notice during and after application that appearance or feel of the pad itself is not apparently different.

I applied mine to a set of porterfield pads and installed a week later. I've been brake squeal free ever since.

I bought the BG and never used it, finally bought the Porterfields and had them put on. They don't squeal but better yet I got 500 miles out of them and the wheels were still clean!!

Just as an FYI - the carbon brakes in the V12S are silent and no brake dust, a welcome change from the V8's I've owned.

I had this applied to my brakes, still didn't totally fix the issue... only way I can get em to not squeak is if I heat them up real good

once I wear these pads out (hopefully soon) i'll get some porterfields, if I need new rotors I might just go with the wilwoods

Considering the brakes are the likely the most important part of a high performance vehicle do you really want to apply something to your pads that changes the "binding between pad and rotor" especially something that supposedly infiltrates the pad material. Sounds like dangerous voodoo maybe ok for a squealing Kia but on an AM?

HabitualOffender 02-13-2018 11:38 PM

It's voodoo, but it works. It doesn't give as much braking power as original but you will have good breaks, that won't squeal, but will still throw enormous amounts of volcanic dust on the wheels and down the sides of the car. The Porterfields don't have the braking power of stock either, but it's close enough and the benefits are ehuuuge.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I decided not to apply the brake squeal and took my car off of the jack stands and take my car for a drive after the new exhaust install. I will just bite the bullet and by the Porterfield brake pads since my rear pads are pretty worn.

Replacing the stock brake pads with Porterfields was one of the first things I did to my V8S. Best thing mod so far. The dust from the original pads was silly.
