Chicago to San Diego -2018 Vanquish S
3 Attachment(s)
Short story, I had planned to ship my new Vanquish S to our home in California for the winter season. Tuesday night a great friend stopped into Chicago enroute to Ontario for a quick overnight dinner and stay with my wife and I. As it turns out his Ontario visit was canceled which meant he was either going to fly back home to SD or hang out with us in Chicago. After a few too many glasses of wine we decided that rather than ship my V to our winter home why not drive! A few meetings cancelled, a late afternoon start yesterday, here I am in St Louis getting ready to start day 2. Today we will be making our way to New Mexico. I'll update as we make our way across the country.

That is the best way to enjoy these cars, happy travelling.

Fabulous way to start a relationship with the car. Enjoy and post more photos graze |
Fantastic idea, love your car!! Happy trip and please take good care!!

I hope you plan to drive a portion of the way on Route 66. Worth a little detour. Love the idea. Beautiful car. Enjoy! Mark |
The cross-country Route 66 trip has been a dream of mine for a long time... follow that up with a jaunt on the PCH... divine.
I'm always glad to see people putting miles on these cars. Enjoy! |
Impulsive ideas often make fabulous memories. Safe driving!

I'd be nervous on a cross country trip with paper plates! Sounds like a drive you'll never forget.

Day 2 in the books ! St Louis to Albuquerque- 1000 miles. Vanquish is absolutely designed for a trip like this - super comfortable and brutally fast and 21 mpg - amazing! Only nit is tires, not a fan of Pirelli tires- will replace with some Michelin SS. The weather was mixed with torrential rain 1 hr west of STL and 88 degrees in Tulsa. Just arrived at a very cool property in Albuquerque- Hotel Chaco-South West Native America vibe - definitely will be on my list going forward. Tomorrow I take more pics - promise ?

Roadkill Cafe/O.K. Saloon
Several years back, stopped for some food and "refreshments" at the Roadkill Cafe/O.K.Saloon, located in Seligman, AZ on a section of the original Route 66.
Interesting to see a "throwback" of what the highway might have looked like many years ago. It's not far off I 40 if you want to take a short detour, or travel a longer portion on the old road from west of Ash Fork to Kingman, if you have time. |

Day 3 start - only 750 miles today, seems like a cinch after 1K yesterday
|
That's the way to do it. Enjoy the ride.
