200 call cat smell is killing me (especially since I have a roadster) any one else?
The smell is just unbearable sometimes. Definitely can't put my daughter in the car as I feel it's not safe.
Anyone else have the same issues with their 200 cell cats? I have the Kh cats. Power and drive is incredible but the smell is killing me. I feel I put the top down less now as the smell is just bad! |

But ive heard others have similar issues as you. If driving with your daughter, you may want to put stock cats back on.... |
I had the Velocity AP 200 cell sports cats and Quicksilver Sports Exhaust on my old 2008 V8 Vantage Roadster. Did not have an issue with it smelling odd. Maybe you have a leak?
|
No catalyst may smell, but 200 cell cats are still working and should not smell at operating temp. You sure its exhaust fumes. No oil leaks or perhaps something else?
|
AFAIK The only thing that can cause catalysts to smell is incorrect air fuel mixture. |
My Larini 200 cell sports cats do not smell. My wife would be really mad if she can smell it (my ex Lotus was catless).
That said, I had an STI with Invidia 200 cell cats & that smelled pretty bad. Maybe we can compare the 200 cell cats at the meet next week. |

I have had mine installed for almost 2 years. Slight exhaust fumes on start-up but it's gone in ~30 seconds. Possible leak, gaskets from manifolds to cats seems like an explanation. If not, you have an air fuel mixture problem. Do you have a tune? If not, you may want to research and consider.
|
I don't have a tune. Maybe it's time for a vap tune
|
Would be ok to do a vap tune with kh cats?
|
also to clarify i have the sport quicksilver exhaust too (sport is the quiet one, even quite than stock!). combine with 200 cell its perfect.
i really think i need to get the tune |
How hard do you drive your car on a daily basis? I don't think it runs that rich at low rpm with part throttle. Easiest way is to maybe get a wide band O2 sensor (or a trip to a dyno) to verify the actual A/F ratio. The tune is great but may not solve your smell problem.

Hi all.
I recently purchased the VAP Cat Delete pipes (haven't gotten around to installing yet) but I can't wait to hear the sound!. I am offering my VAP 200 Cell Cats if anyone is interested. Purchased about 3 years ago and have ~8000 miles on them. These are for MY 2006-2010. PM to discuss. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.6sp...9ae9f49934.jpg |
personally, you should check under the hood before you start it... that's why I'm a dog fan... dogs don't crawl under the hood like cats and other little critters
|
Good one! I needed a nice laugh hilarious
BTW, I'm a dog fan too. |
