Need help removing paddle shifters

Hey guys, has anyone with a Vantage had any luck removing the OEM paddle shifters from the steering column? Richard (RedPants) has a great write up showing off the steering wheel removal process (which took all of 30 minutes) but now I need to remove the pins that hold in the factory paddles. I was able to FINALLY get one of them out after hours of going at it and just slowly getting it pushed up but the left side just won't budge. We are going to tackle on the job again tonight so just want to see if I am missing anything..

PS. its for a special project that I cannot give info on just yet.

There's two screws that hold the paddle shift assembly in place. One is horizontal and is behind the steering wheel, once the steering column shroud is removed. The other is vertical and is underneath the paddle shift assembly.

I'm afraid that it's a "steering wheel off job" Phil!

Don't need to remove the steering wheel to remove the paddle shifters. Just remove the shroud.
