Thanks for the informative post. All signs point me to Rapide, if only I could get my heart to follow my head. Lol
Do you own an Aston currently? I love my Rapide. Only knock is how long it is; coming from a Vantage. It's S Class length and when it comes to parking you realize it.

No I do not. I actually drove an 8 speed rapide S and loved the car, I actually enjoyed the transmission a lot better than the db9.2 I drove. Only thing holding me back is I absolutely love the looks of db9.2 or dbs.1 but can't get there on the rapide (looks wise that is) Never drove or been in a vanquish but read they have a little more space hence my query to op. The car will only see very occasional 3 up duty with my 2 year old in back so I'm pretty torn up on what to get. Driving db9gt tomorrow maybe that will clarify things.
DB9 GT is hot and just a classic looking with all the final iterations of the DB9. I was considering trading the Rapide for a DB9 GT, but was convinced by AM management I should keep the Rapide. An extra foot or so of space in the garage would be nice.
Vanquish has more front leg room and boot room than a DBS. Rear seat room might be a hair bigger, if you position the Vanq front seat the same distance to the pedals as the DBS. I run the front all the way back until it touches the rear seat cushion on my Vanq and on the DBS. Definitely more legroom in the Vanq.

Well drove the DB9 GT and absolutely loved it, the interior with upgraded console and piped seats was awesome and felt much more modern and the engine seemed to rev much quicker than the 2013 I drove before (probably exhaust noise vs real performance difference) I forgot all about the rapide, lol. Unfortunately we couldn’t come to a deal but as of now db9 gt is at the top of my list.
Ordered and received the One77 steering wheel from astonmartinbits....even has red stitching to match my interior!
Is this an easy DIY swap? Anyone have a YouTube vid or instructions?
TIA

It appears to be a very simple process. Just make sure you keep the battery disconnected for at least 30 minutes before starting the process to make sure the airbag backup capacitor has fully drained. Beyond that, it's just a bunch fo screws and shouldn't take you more than an hour to do. Be sure to take pics along the way and keep us posted. This is on my list for the springtime.
I would answer as such...
I really don’t miss my old manual DBS. If I were to go back to a manual Aston, it would be a manual V12 Vantage...reason being, when I drive a manual, I want to be able to engage in all aspects of the car including the handling. I would want a nimble car as a manual...Vantage, Porsche, Lotus or a gated 430.
The DBS is a comfortable GT cruiser...handling is not its forte. Rowing through the gears was cool but it was underpowered.
I would say stick with your manual V8V, as the Vantage is such a nimble platform.
This was something I had been wondering. I would have never imagined that someone who had a manual DBS would even consider an automatic VH car. Agree that handling might not be its forte but saying its underpowered is not true. It has a better power to weight ratio than (most) Porsches, Vantages or Lotuses.
