The company's first luxury SUV is a very big deal, enabling Aston dynamic value in an entirely new dynamic environment.

So much this. While the purists are going to be upset, this will — hopefully — be the best thing that's ever happened to Aston. Maybe the company will finally find some firm financial footing... Fingers crossed.

Super critical for AML as that's all that's being manufactured at St. Athans and until that is successful, Lagonda cars are taking a back seat.

I hope someone does a shootout between this an the Stelvio Q. I know they're going to be at different price points, but I was blown away by just how amazing that crossover was to drive. I'd be terrified to own one, but wow, what a hoot to flog on a country road.

DBX will be on display this Saturday in SoCal Crystal Cove, along with Vantage roadster. Also special guest Matt Becker.

As a long time Aston fanatic, it hurts, as they are sucking wind. Dropping cars off at dealers, to get them off the quarterly books. Not easy for dealers with unwanted inventory.

I think it’s a long shot that DBX will parallel how the Cayenne saved Porsche. They just don’t have a huge customer base that Porsche has. Plus, Porsche entry point for the Cayenne was / is less then half of the DBX entry point.

Yea, it’s to focus on women, but there are too many other choices for them. Palmer wanted to focus on China as their primary growth market. China is obviously in serious trouble.

I think Andy b4 and after IPO surrounded himself with many poor direct reports, hence got rid of his CMO last month. Also Andy will stay as he is basically the only real car person they have. I still question their “investment” with Red Bull.

That said, I hope the DBX is a huge success.

BINGO! Porsche went after the X3 market with the Macan and Macan S at only slightly higher price points. It was easy for BMW buyers to say "Well for $4k more, I can have a Porsche." The stratospheric DBX entry level makes it unlikely to be crossshopped by Cayenne Turbo buyers let alone those looking at a base Cayenne or S model.

Went and saw a DBX in person yesterday at Morries Aston Martin - a whole lot better looking in person than any pictures or videos could possibly communicate - both inside and out. A pretty large vehicle but a still maintains an Aston look, at lest from the front. Really nice wood. They had lots of wool in the interior which was not my taste, but the interior was fairly pleasant. The seats were the most comfortable I've ever sat in. It's not for me, but I can actually see SUV people desiring the car over others. I'm shocked to say this after the convoluted designs of the DB11 and Vantage and the cut-rate looking pop-up-screens, but they actually did a nice job, and I think people will buy it. The only thing I saw that should have been done different, is the digital screen looks an awful like the pictures of the screen on the new Hyundai Elantra coming out - other than that nothing looks cheap or cut-rate,, and it looks elegant and worth the cost. If I was a buyer for a luxury and knew nothing of Aston, and on price and design alone I think it is a cut above the rest.

My wife just called - she stopped by to check out the DBX - Stunning was her word. She thought it incredible.

The warranty on the DBX needs to be equal or better to the competitors. Reliability and user experience in ownership are critical for a utility vehicle no matter how expensive it is.

this is more important and the DBX to AM (hopefully it's true and better times are ahead)

running an F1 team with all the money and backing from Mercedes is quite different than running an ailing boutique car manufacturer...
