V8 vantage hood adjustment

I have read the thread linked in the FAQ about adjusting the striker. From what I understood is the entire front of the hood was closing a bit low.

On mine, only the left side is a bit low (3mm), but it's the entire left side; the hood is about 2mm lower than the fender/wing along the entire length. The workshop manual in the section about refitting the hood makes mention of shims where the hinge mounts to the frame. I'm surmising that more shims are needed. The manual states to have the fender/wing installed and adjust the shimming, though it does state that removing the fender/wing is one of the first tasks when doing anything with the hood. Is it possible to get to the hinge shims by removing the inner fender/wing liner?

Thanks

Be careful - the hood latch adjustment is something noted to do at annual inspections - a local non-Aston dealer was selling a used 2008 Vantage and in the test drive the hood flew open - an $8,000 repair, that's how I found out the hood latch is pretty important to get right.

Almost lost my hood as well. Luckily the dash has a warning light and the audible alarm will not go away until you stop and fix the hood. Hood was lifting quiet a bit at only 30mph, can only imagine it popping at 50mph+.

The fenders are adjustable as well, you may want to consider bringing the one fender down lower. Open the hood and take a look at the bolts along the fender. The mounting points underneath the fender can be adjusted higher or lower by turning them.

The hood latch is fine, it closes firmly when letting it drop from 6 inches or so. I'll look at adjusting the fender, but I think that it already lines up correctly with the other panels.

Thanks.
