Closing hood on new Vantage
Closing hood on new Vantage
If I drop the hood to close as instructed, often times the hood lines on the sides don’t line up equally. That is, the shut lines
from the side view have different tolerances. Is there some trick that I am missing? Anyone dose with pressure on the left and
right sides of the hood?

Are you saying that if you use a different process than dropping it that the result changes? I would not generally expect that how you close the hood would affect the gaps once closed unless perhaps something is loose.
As your beautiful Vantage is new and still under warranty, it might benefit you to take a day trip down to Aston Orlando for them to realign the hood if necessary. Don Byrd is the Aston service manager.
Yes, bring it to the dealer ASAP and be very careful when opening the doors. The first time I opened my passenger door when taking delivery, the door rubbed against the hood and chipped the paint because the hood was misaligned. Good luck
omg!

This quirk along with the following is why I won't be re-upping with another Vantage when my lease is up in 10 months.
-Upgraded stereo option is weaker than my 1985 Toyota MR2 stereo. (Major problem)
-The plastic Navigation screen is tough to look at all the time. (Minor problem)
-Lack of auto high beams (Irritating)
-Manual transmission pops out of 1st gear and reverse constantly. (Major problem & no it isn't because I don't know how to properly engage the gears. My dealer concedes this is a known issue)
It's a shame because I otherwise like the car. It drives well and is great to look at. I, for one, am confused as to why Aston management isn't hustling to make the Vantage and DB 11 more competitive in their segments. I'll go back to the 911 for now and see if AM gets it together in a couple of years.
