Hi,
as of now I have a 2010 Boxster spyder.
Monday I'll be going to see an Aston VantageS 2012 convertible automatic with 15.000km (9.400 miles).
I have already 1.000.000 good reasons in y mind to make the swap (if we find a proper price agreement).
I need some proper argument to understand if/when/why I will regret it after the normal and mandatory enthusiasm of the first months.
I have another brit car so I can live with small issues, xmas like lights, noises and low quality items. What I am not ready is to pay crazy bills every other week and being obliged to go back home with train/rental cars and so on.
Be bad. I need it.
ford practicality lingered on in the vantage for many years. the prices for parts OTOH, if you must go the OEM/dealship route, are astronomical. If you're a DIY'er it's not bad at all... but otherwise, truly astronomical. parts are about 600% above what they should be and that's before labor costs. porsche owners think parts and maintenance costs at a dealership are high. ...they have no idea.
i have an '07 cayman in addition to the vantage and the vantage is a much nicer place to be while driving, so quiet, so luxurious, but that mid-engined porche handles a high speed winding road like nothing else. indescribable. i'm not regretting either purchase.
Porsches are generally more expensive to maintain than Astons in my experience. It's easy to find Ford/Jaguar/Volvo/Bosch parts that are relatively inexpensive. Aston specific parts are a little more hard to find but not particularly problematic.
However, depending on what you're looking for the Boxster Spyder is a better driver's car, just feels more agile and controllable with better sight lines. The Aston is an event, however, great looking, great sounding, far less common and a really good sports car in it's own right. But it doesn't hide it's weight.

Thanks again.
Looks like that -despite it's characteristic- (nice, fat lady) the only thing that I should think of are spare parts costs (labor h cost here in EU I think will be pretty similar between Porsche and Aston).
This time I would like to experience a comfy GT cruiser but with a nice look and -must for me (that I was suffering a bit with the spyder)- a nice sound.
How often does it get broken? I mean it's like drive once and repair once or is it something that is still in the acceptable side of normal ownership?
I am specifically looking for an S since here in CH seems impossible to find a convertible manual 4.7 and seems that the auto 7 speed it's definitely not fast as the PDK 1st gen but still not laggy and slow as the 6 speed. Is it worth paying the premium price that here are asking for the S?
On Monday 02.08 I saw it (here the pics).
On Wednesday 03.08 I bought it and drove it for 500km.
On Thursday 04.08 I took it to the dealer for service and for a random error on the gearbox. They are investigating.
Looking forward to be back on the driver seat.
I moved from a V12S to a C8 Corvette - but nothing is like the Aston - so I bought a 2009 Vantage Sports Pack (the 'S' version of the 2009 year) to get my Aston Fix to supplement the C8 (a daily driver).

OMG. So the AM is another of those brands that gives crazy addictions,.

It has been too long from when I drove another Aston (a V8 4.3) to remember the difference.
It's a nice car but for sure it's super heavy. I was not used to that. It's like dancing with a bear. It can be skilled but it's still a bear.
On the other hand it's well balanced and if you do not ask too much, very steady.
The sportshift II is terrible if you consider it as an auto gearbox, but if you use it as a manual reminding to slightly lift the right foot while you upshift it's fun.
