Not sure I agree with everything here.
Definitely agree with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. They are the only real option for street and occasional track.
Definitely agree with the lightweight flywheel twin plate clutch. Aston Martin shouldn't even sell the old single plate.
Disagree with the comments on wheel spacers. I've had 20mm rear / 15mm front spacers for 6 years.
They really improve handling and cornering with no bearing compromise. Just need the new posts pressed by a professional.
Disagree with the comments on intake, but to be fair, the video specified the 380hp motor, I have the 4.7 liter motor with over 500hp.
Definitely need honeycomb airflow guides to handle the additional air, but the throttle response is noticeably better.
The GT4 kit might not add much to the dyno, but you will get to high horsepower faster, so your stopwatch will see the difference.

I saw the video as well and was curious about what others thought on the comments on wheel spacers (when done properly) since a lot of people seem to have them and I was interested in getting some as well, and the oil catch can (where he says its solving for a problem that's not really there to begin with) though many people here demonstrate it working per its intentions...

some interesting points in the video.but he always knocks non Bamford products. you can't buy Bamford rose products to install yourself..
the catch can speaks for itself every time you empty it out.or maybe the oil collected is good for the intake ?
So glad we have Velocity AP this side of the pond.

I also have the 4.7L and about to upgrade the power. How did you get the 500? Could you provide your mod list? I've seen dyno sheets with the VAP power pack and tune. Thanks

As seems to be the case with most BR stuff, the information is somewhere between "good" and "ok" and has a big slant towards their way of doing things and the accompanying sales pitch that that way is best. There's no magic in modifying these cars (or most any car), really.

Drew, My first mod was the lower end. Pauter chromoly racing rods on Porsche GT3 bearings feeding a shaved polished and nitride hardened crankshaft.

I had Wheel spacers on almost all of my Vantages - or custom 20" wheels with offset (like the spacers) zero issues.

wow! just wow!

Do you have photos of the process?

That might well be the best and most interesting Vantage project ever.

I think he is talking about cheap heavy aftermarket wheels. Anyone who installed the ones shown in his video would be arrested for bad taste.

LeStrat,
Sorry, no photos.
When all is said and done, it's just a Ford V8. There are a lot of tuners for the Ford V8.
I had one guy balance, another guy polish and a third guy nitride harden the crank. All in different states.

With every reply from you, my desire to disassemble the engine and get down to the business of improving it increases.

I assume that it has been an expensive path, but could you let us know roughly how expensive? Do you have a list of all changes done to the engine?

I don't want to bother you with questions, but I could spend a whole afternoon asking you and taking an interest in your project. Which rpm do you reach with the modifications? Do you have a video where we can hear it?

PS: Sorry for hijacking the thread.

I second this and a video clip. Ive been looking for folks who have done more than just the twin plate clutch and VAP power pack with tune. I was curious to see how modifiable these v8s could be.

Thats interesting, but 470~480 bhp is about the best I've heard of with headers, cats, intake and tune.

Are you saying that mods to the crankshaft, bearings and different rods gives the missing 20~30 bhp to get you to 500bhp? I know they have the potential to improve reliability and reduce rotational mass, and maybe reduced friction from better bearings will slightly improve power, but what are you doing that finds 20-30bhp beyond the usual mods?

All you mention are just bolt-ons, I assume that if Hybrid did all that to the bottom end, the top end has also been heavily modified, that means ported heads, profiled/more agressive camshafts, even an increase in the compression. All those changes would mean a better flow and a heavy increase in the rpm range, which would also mean more HP.

That's the reason why I am so interested in those changes, this might be the most interesting V8 vantage engine mod that I have heard of.
