Mystery ipod connector

Hey guys,

Anybody have any idea how to use this? It's an old school ipod connecter with a newer lightning port adapter on it. It doesn't charge a phone and the chord just disappears into the door.

Short of taking things apart and following the wire does anyone have any idea where this goes or how to use it?

2006 Vantage btw.

Thanks in advance!

That looks like the factory iphone connector that comes out of the center console.

You think previous owner just moved it to the door? Nothing happens when I plug an iphone into it though - do you know how to use it?

Is it actually connected? I thought on my '11 V8V it was in the center console. Do you see ipod as a selection when you go through the audio modes on the stereo? Does your iphone have at least one song from itunes installed? That is one mandate to get the iphone to recognize on the ipod setting. Took me a year to figure out why my iphone stopped working in the Rapide. Service Manager couldn't figure it out either until him that's why some phones worked and others did not...

My guess is that something has become disconnected inside the door. It is not standard and was probably done by the previous owner. It's an old ipod/iPhone connector with a current iPhone adapter attached.

I've never seen the AM ipod adapter come from the factory with current adapter.

this could be a Dension Adaptor; to check it out switch to CD changer mode disc 6 and see whether you have sound once hooked up to an ipod
