What would you do in my situation?
There will be others. My advice on ones you like, if you get serious enough, offer to place a refundable deposit pending ability to see it or have someone see on your behalf. That may at least buy some time and give you first right of refusal. Doesn't always work but worth a shot.
Absolutely. I would never purchase an AM or any exotic without a PPI first.
It's been about 6 weeks since my last post, so I wanted to update the thread on the status of my search for my first AM. I was once again out of the country for most of last month, so the cars I had been looking at before have all sold. I've recently come across a beautiful 2015 DB9 convertible that is at a dealership in/near Cleveland called Marshall Goldman. Is anyone familiar with it? It doesn't have a very good reputation on cars.com, but the car is a one-owner, accident-free vehicle, with only 15k miles that has been serviced since new at the Aston Martin dealership in Cleveland, Cleveland Motorsports. Here's a link:

I don't know if Marshall Goldman bought the car at auction or if they got it as a trade in. But in either case, if I make an offer, I'd make my purchase contingent on a satisfactory PPI that I'd try to arrange to have performed at Cleveland Motorsports. Any thoughts on this car? I realize that I'm going against my own criteria of purchasing a CPO from an AM dealer, but this car is gorgeous (at least to me) and appears to have been well-cared for by it's one previous owner.

They are very well known exotic car dealer. They don't sell crap. If I were looking for a DB9 Volante today, this one would be it. Only "drawback" is no B&O. That car is super hot looking.
I wouldn't be so worried on PPI beyond if it were in a crash or general once over. You can make it current on services for short money. It would be fluid & filters.

I can't believe I missed this thread. I'm also in Savannah.
When I needed any service done on my '09 Vantage that I couldn't do myself, I took it to JFrazer Sports Car Services on Highway 17. They also do any services I need on my XJL Supercharged. The owner, Joe, is a great guy, and so is Sean, the service manager. The place looks like a hole in the wall but when they walked me through the shop I saw a bevy of classic air-cooled Porsches, a Ferrari 250 GT California, and a BMW M1. They're accustomed to working on high-end cars. I don't remember if Sean said they have a computer with AMDS, though.

Well, it's been about 5 months since I created this thread, but I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 2019 Vantage today a couple of hours away from me in Jacksonville. I took it for a test drive, negotiated a few k off of the asking price, and put down a deposit subject to a PPI. Barring any surprises, I should be picking it up and driving it home by the end of the week. Here's a link to the car on the dealer's website: Used Q Scorpus Red 2019 Aston Martin Vantage for Sale in Jacksonville, FL | SCFSMGAW4KGN00828 | Bentley Jacksonville
I first saw and test drove the car just before Thanksgiving, but had been vacillating between making an offer on this one or a similarly priced 2020 CPO Vantage in San Diego. As you may recall from my earlier posts, my preference had been to purchase a CPO, but this one has 42k miles, and the Vantage that I ultimately decided on has "only" 24k even though it's a year older. I figured for the same price, I'd give up the CPO for 18k fewer miles. Here's a link to the one in San Diego. Vantage N03638 | Aston Martin San Diego (Interestingly, although the AM dealer's website still lists the car at $97,836, the Cars.com ad shows that the price was reduced to $90,247 a couple of days ago. Certified 2020 Aston Martin Vantage Vantage For Sale $90,247 | Cars.com That's the price that I had the Jacksonville dealer match.
Color preferences aside, anyone care to weigh in on what you think of my decision and whether you think that I made the right choice?

100% approve, but these are all preferences as well. I don't like alcantara, it just doesn't well and look horrible . . . With loads of (perceived) sweat retention.
The wheels on your car are far better and it looks like the 2020 wheels are a bit chunked up
Drive in good health! Congratulations, KH

I'm trying to recognize my own faults and (not do the minimum) not do what is required for a forever-car . . . History tells me that I don't have a forever-car, HaHa
I've owned Rapide longer than any car I have had in a couple of decades.
Thanks, guys. The PPI is scheduled for this afternoon, so if all goes well, I'll be wiring the funds tomorrow and then going to pick up the car and driving it home on Friday or Saturday.
Still have some nervousness about not going with the CPO vehicle, but certainly not enough to purchase the third-party warranty the Bentley dealership was offering for $11k, lol.
