Aston Martin on the block?

GM and Ford are both in trouble and needs more cash to invest in their core brands. Not sure if this is good for companies like Saab, AM, Jag. AM and Jag seem to benefit from Ford's engineering and improvements in quality while Saab is now basically a bastardize Chevy.

Really sad to see Saab end up like this.

Who will buy AM, BMW?

Do I hear a group buy? :p

I'm currently negotiating to purchase an AM Vanquish, and this announcement has me slightly spooked. I'd hate to buy a car with an extended warranty and then find that the manufacturer loses sponsorship and closes up. Even if it doesn't close up shop altogether, I would think there could be significant reprecussions to existing customers. I cannot imagine that AM is profitable on its own, and it must be subsidized by Ford's other operations. So, is this a time to buy or to wait? Any commentary from those who have inside information is, of course, welcome.

db9 is the car to get.

Zookie,
I assume you're suggesting I go for the DB9 over the Vanquish. Other than the gearbox issue, is there some reason other than personal taste as to why I should go DB9? Aesthetically, I prefer the Vanquish. It's more muscular and aggressive, while the DB9 is softer and sleeker. One could even say it's more feminine looking. As measured by performance, the DB9 is close, but the Vanquish remains the top of the AM heap. I've also found a low mileage used car with the Sport Dynamics Package, which is the fairly rare handling option. Basically, it's the S option without the increased power in the motor and does improve the handling quite a bit. Economically, I think the Vanquish is further depreciated, but it will probably have higher operating and maintenance costs. So, if I've missed something, please clue me in. Thanks, CW |
i'd like to see my company buy AM. would be sweet.
they thought about buying jaguar. |
