Kinda thought LA Auto Show was lame this year...

Went last night and was not nearly as impressed as last year. Although I'm an Audi guy (RS4 driver) there was no Ferrari, Lambo or Masserati this year..

Pretty lame if you ask me. Last year I think Rarri and Lambo shared there own room at the convention center??

Audi's setup was decent they had a drop top v10 R8 which was the best part. No RS6, new A8 or RS5 though... :-/ Boo

Opinions?

I went saturday. Although an RS6 would be nice to see, since it's not a US import, I don't see them displaying it. I was hoping to see the new A8, but I guess it's still a little to early. RS5? that's still in development....

I was also disappointed to see no F cars or Lambos. I guess this is another sign of the times. No slush money for auto shows.

My pics vvv

Yes must be the economy. Yeah I know RS5 doesn't even exist yet... Just dreaming over here I guess.

Honestly the car that got me the most excited was when I was sitting in that 2010 760 BMW. Such a badass ride. Sticker was $137K

My first time ever going and I didn't think it was anything special. I've either had, could have, or see those cars all the time in LA.
I ended up getting $5 scalped tickets while walking to the entrance so that was cool, lol.

Truthfully I wasn't awed like in years past. And another truthfully; haven't went since 1996! That was before the Staple's Center was there and the convention center was setup with a few other buildings. Then the show took up more rooms than it does now. Seemed like you could get a catalog for each car that you wanted instead of the smaller jobs with all the cars that they hand out now. Not to mention the aftermarket and performance hall was about three times bigger too. More makers also which goes beyond the dissolving of several car companies and the absence of others!

Now for the Audis. I'm an American Buick Turbo /slash/ Porsche man. I think the R8 is an awesome performer especially with the new Lambo sourced V10. However never really liked the ugly *** piece of carbon fiber smack dab on the middle of the side of it. That is why I really popped a boner for the new convertable. I told the misses if I would ever buy a convertable that would be it. But she hates Audis because her dad loves them. Also never really saw the latest generation of TT's up close! They had that red TTS coupe with the baseball stitched leather seats and, here comes another one, truthfully fell in love with it. I wasn't expecting that for that car from Audi! If I could eek out the cash, when I'm trying to get a 2010 Porche TT coupe, that would be the car I get.

Nothing else at the show I was surprised at. Because you come to expect some makers to do what they do with the models they have. Like Mercedes with AMGs and the new Gulwing, BMW & Porsche too. We expect great stuff, but since I haven't been following Audi in awhile I was impressed. Now if they could only bring their quality up into top ten... But that is another discussion for another day.

I liked the 760, but the only thing I didn't like was the way you had to pull the interior door trim to close the door. funky design imo.

A little off topic but we had the same thing in San Antonio this year...only a few cars worth seeing. I guess that's what a recession brings.
