B8.5 RS5 or Granturismo Sport
I just got out of an AMG lease and want to try something different or another M car. Any RS5 owners cross shopped these 2 GT's? I have not driven either, hard to find a RS5 for sale locally due to low production numbers. I test drove a couple of older B8 S5's with the 4.2l v8 and found them to be very underwhelming. On paper, the RS5 is appealing - laps the Nurburgring in about the same time as my previous e60 M5 (v10), has a clutchless manual paired to a high revving motor and makes the right sounds from the factory. Although my M5 weighed 2 tons, the old gal hid it well Can the same be said about the RS5? RS5 weighs in ~3800 pounds. Maserati GT's are ~4100lbs and will obviously throw her weight around but she has curves in the right places so I might overlook.
My brother is a tech and has a private shop locally, I'm not concerned about parts or labor costs. I live in Northern CA so AWD is not a must have but not a deterrent. Just looking for a fun weekend toy I can drive in the local canyons that sounds really good and gives a visceral driving experience.
