The new safety car in '08 is an SL63. I heard the exhaust on TV. Sounds bad *ss.

The CLK63 BS is still connected to F1, it just happens to be the 2007 F1 safety car. MB changes the safety car every year and for this year it is the SL63. 2009 will no doubt bring another model, perhaps the C or E as the safety car. The safety car becomes the basis for the black series. I'd expect the SL63 BS to cost in the $190-$200K range making the CLK63 BS a real bargain.

I think you are way off on the price of an SL BS considering the SL 65 will be around $190k. The SL BS is probably going to be closer to $220-$240k

You could be right. I was going by a $50K premium over the regular AMG. The SL63 is around $150K equipped. I think $220K is a little high.

Steve, if you're ever up in Marin, I'd like to take a sound bite and some HD video of the BS. Let me know.

Glad to see you finally pulled the trigger. By the way, the SL BS will be based on the 65 not the 63, so dont be surprised if it ends up costing twice what you paid for the CLK BS

Really. I thought it would be based on the current SL63 F1 saftey car from this year. If it is based on the SL65, then it will be definitely be more than in the $240K range.

I went for a ride in one when a friend just got it and the sound was great! Unfortunetly he just got it and was breaking it in so the ride was so so. I saw him at the light the other day and I was with my wife so I told him to give it a rev for her and he did a sweet burn out through the green light. I give it a thumbs up for its sound and fat fender flares with a bit of CF but the resale is not going to be good on that one.

I just drove atan's CLK BS and I must say that I was very impressed. The handling is nothing like my SL55 and the power is awesome. I don't care for the aesthetics of the car too much though; too ricer for me. But the performance is outstanding!

tthoang, I can hook you up with atan if you're interested in videoing the BS.
