1989 928 S4...What's it worth???
18k miles (yes, 18,000), red/tan, condition 2+, 5spd., LSD, s/r,. original owner (with books/records).
Any opinions of what it may be worth is appreciated. Thanks, Derik |
hard to tell. since condition isn't mint, i would think it's somewhere sub $10k.
|
It's VERY close to mint, may be more like a 1-. Belongs to my boss' father, he is considering selling it.
|
PM me with a price please Roc.
|
For 10k I will buy it. Pm me.
|
Thanks for the interest guys, but there is no way he will take $10k. He has no asking price at the moment. This thread was actually moved from the 928 section to here by a moderator. The reason for starting this thread is to get an idea and starting point for fair market value. The car will not disappoint. Will try to post pic's soon.

The market will likely bear $12k, tops. ONLY if it is in PERFECT condition. The last years are the best ones, but they are notoriously finnicky, cost a fortune to work on, and mechanics hate to work on them.
It is truly an ENTHUSIAST car. Makes for a nice daily driver, if you are willing to work on it, yourself, or have the money to PAY someone to work on it. There is a reason Porsche discontinued that model. |

a much better place to find 928 price trends would be either Rennlist.com or PelicanParts.com 6Speed tends to be much better for newer cars.

I had an '87. Most of the cars going for 10-12k are cars like mine...100k mile S4s with good history and solid drivers. I sold mine early last year for 10k and it had 109,xxx miles and was pretty solid.
There is still a strong market for the 928, and the 5spds are more desireable and rare than the autos. For a 5spd with records in this year range with those kind of miles, you are probably looking at a price point closer to 20k+. Hell, the later model GTS are still commanding 40k+ with manual trannys. Definitely head over to the 928 boards on Rennlist. Those guys are fanatics. Keep us posted! |
have him look at the option sticker under the rear deck mat. If it has code 639 then it is an '89 GT which is very desirable among 928 enthusiasts.
|
That car should be $15-17k range.
Very low miles, 1 owner, records, 5 speed (rare) |
$15-20k with those miles.....
|
agreed close to 20k if it is mint and you find a collector.
S4 was bad ass in its day... |
