My girlfriend is looking for a dependable DD for ~$2K for her daughter. They would like AWD or FWD because of snow. Daughter is a college student, wants a SUV and would prefer something fun and unconventional, but is flexible. She likes the look of a Jeep. I'd love to find them something that is reliable and will hold value so if she takes care of it she can get most of her money out of it after she finishes college.

It's a tough bill to fill any suggestions out there?

 

Recommend Craigslist, cars.com (Private listings) and ebay local listings.

 

Yes, those are the right places. I'm really looking for recommendations on good vehicles that fit her criteria.

Well he could get a decent 1994-1999 Toyota Camry for that amount in good condition and that is a very dependable car.

 

I have a 02 jeep with 122k on it. Original owner was a friend of mine that kept it until 119k. I used it only for 1 season and has all paperwork. PM me if interested for 5k

 

I sell cars for a living and there is nothing "dependable" for anywhere close to $2k. You will spend more money fixing things in a $2k car. Even at Manheim they sell cars below $5k as "red light", which means no guarantee of any kind. You're looking to spend at least 4-5 grand if you want something that will last any amount of time and not get you stranded.
