1968 Mustang Convertible Fully Restored, 2JZ - 730rwhp
11 Attachment(s)
I've spent the last 5yrs restoring my 68 mustang, full rotisserie build. The car started as a 6cyl and remains one  just not a Ford motor. I took my 2 favorite things and combined them. I can't even start to guess at how many hours I have into this build but it's been an awesome journey. I think I'm at a point to start looking at the next chapter.
The car is ridiculously fun/fast! Note, if you don't like to be bothered talking about your cars while getting gas, parking, driving, etc.. then this car is not for you! Driving on the street it's set at about 30psi (730rwhp) on E85. It has setting 1-4 but honestly the car never sees those settings :) I realize this is a pretty niche setup and will have a limited audience but I figured there may be other nuts out there like me on the forum who may be interested. The motor is built for 1000hp and there is more boost in this 6766 turbo, probably in the mid to high 800rwhp range. If someone wants to turn the wick up even more, just bolt on a new 68mm pte or 71 and turn it up. My wife and daughters love cruising in the car, and frankly so do I, it's just time for me to change it up. no a/c though. |
unique project, the end results look amazing! you have any video clips of this bad boy?
|
Here is a video of the build and some other ones. I haven't had a chance to really capture quality video of the car in action yet :( The dual exhaust in the vid was swapped out for a single 4", can hear the difference in other dyno vid.
Made 730 at 30psi in this vid, converter has since been swapped out for a tighter one, that one was over 4k stall, the new one is 3800rpm. Here is a bit of driving from inside the car. Don't mind my wife freaking out as it gets squirly :) Sony actioncam mounted to rear bumper Foot brake, let it roll a bit. Chris |
great car! was 730 rwhp on e85 or pump gas?
you put a lot of man hours on this project and seems like you met your goal so why sell her? Can't send you a PM due to low post but here's my cell for texting (856) 426 9607 , thanks |
Yes, that 730rwhp was on e85. I pretty much keep it solely on e85 and 93 when I'm out and cant find e85.
As for selling, I seem to enjoy the journey of building cars more than enjoying the fruits of my labor lol. I'm a glutton for punishment I suppose. That said, if I can't get what I'd like for the car, I will definitely keep and enjoy with my family. I didn't realize my low post count prevented me from pm's. I'll shoot you a text today, I'm heading to some meetings today/tomorrow and will be out of pocket for a bit. also my email is cmthreadgill at g mail dot com Thanks, Chris |
Well played! Who doesn't need a supra turbo powered muscle car full rotis rebuild for 35 freaking k. Bump!
|
Coolest suprastang ever!! GLWS Wish I had the cash for an awesome toy
|
Sick build and beautiful car.
If I were your wife, I'd be freaking out too at the way you're holding the steering wheel, though!! Left hand should be on the outside of the wheel, not the inside or the spoke. |
What tires are you running in the videos where it is breaking traction at speed?
|
They are Mickey Thompson ET drag radials. Granted they are at 28psi and not heated up so it just blazes them :) But one little rolling burnout and a lower air pressure and it hooks!
|
I've known Mr. Quikturbo for quite a long time and would like to vouch for the attention to detail he follows and his wrenching capabilities. You can rest assured that this car was built meticulously by someone who not only knows what they are doing, but does things right. Best of luck to you with your sale.
|
Thanks much Marcus! Let's just trade even up for that CTS-V ;)
Crazy enough I think my next toy will be a V2 Sedan CTS-V banger! Maybe I'll have to test drive yours. Chris |
Oh my!
