Hello Fellow Enthusiast!

Asking $20,000

Up for sale today we have a SVE tR1ke which is essentially a “reverse-trike” utilizing Yamaha’s YZF-R1 drive train. This trike was designed by Stuart Mills and RTR in the UK. This one here was one of the first ones to be built by Dove Racing here in Texas, Dove Racing is a licensed builder/dealer for RTR and Stuart Mills products. It is one of the coolest and fastest vehicles I have ever owned. The best part about this one is unlike the Ariel Atom, Exocet, T-Rex, etc kit cars – this one is already street legal and plated, no hoops to jump through and no “getting denied” by your DMV/DPS. This is completely legal and plated here in Texas as a motorcycle (see picture of clean and clear TX title).

This one was made for street driving and enjoying the city – it rides extremely SOFT (you can adjust/change to your preference) and has very good street manners (no need to high REV to get out of first) or stalling issues. It runs well and is always on a battery tender when parked. Heck it even has a REVERSE (winch style, $800 option) so you can back it in to parking spots. Insurance is dirt cheap (under $300/year for me) with 5k/year mileage cap (will vary depending on you’re driving record/age/etc.).

I have played around a bit with the look of this one and have enjoyed it in all RED, all RED with white stripe, and all RED with Black stripe and have recently gone back to all RED – with fresh complete paint. This is a hobby of mine and with such minimum body work, I do like to change the look often. So see the pictures in detail, but know as it sits it will come in all RED with no white or black stripes (can be added to your liking at your expense).

Here are some specifications for this street legal toy:

CHASSIS
The chassis is a fully triangulated steel space frame, designed to achieve an extremely high level of strength and torsional rigidity. The main tubulars are arranged efficiently to absorb the loads at the node points – such as the roll hoop and the top of the suspension connection points. The design used computer simulated loads which was then refined through actual testing.

DIMENSIONS (from doveracing.net)
Length: 8.83 ft (2.69meters)

Width: 5.83 ft (1.78 meters)

Height: 3.67 ft (1.12 meters)

Weight: About 735 lbs (334 kilos)

BRAKES
Wilwood 4 pot calipers, rotors, and pads. Rear brake rotor is sourced from the R1 donor. Hi Spec rear caliper, mounting bracket and cables were utilized. Stops on a dime.

POWER
The standard power plant is the 999cc engine and 6 speed transmission obtained from the Yamaha YZF-R1 donor. This particular one has a built Yamaha R1 motor mated to dual Yoshimura Exhausts and K&N Air Filter. With 180-200 hp on tap in a vehicle that weighs in at 735-750 lbs, this results in a horsepower to weight ratio of supercar territory.

HANDLING
Ride quality is always a personal preference, so the tR1ke features fully adjustable suspension settings. The all round coil over shock absorbers can be adjusted in ride height and damping. Basically the perfect feel can be achieved to suit all drivers. Currently set for a soft, nice smooth gliding feel. The other kit car pictured is set for stiff, firm handling.

BASE KIT COMPONENTS ($7,740 plus applicable taxes, shipping, and import duty – see below)

· Fully welded tubular space frame ready to accept Yamaha YZK R1 engine and 6 speed transmission components (from 1998 to 2007 model years – customer to specify year of donor)
· Pro Tech fully adjustable shock absorbers complete with coil over springs
· Front and rear wishbones (“A” arms) complete with poly bushings, crush tubes and ball joints
· Rally Design alloy front uprights with hubs and bearings, to accept radial brake caliper mount for Wilwood 4 pot calipers (this was an extra)
· Handbrake and cables
· Aluminum sections for front bulkhead, rear bulkhead, center console and cockpit floor
· 3 piece GRP comprising of hood section and two front fender with steel mounting brackets

OPTIONAL EXTRAS
· 2 Sport Type GRP seats Price $399
· Padded and quilted seat inserts Price $150

So with roughly $12,000 in kit and optional extras, another $3-5k for the Yamaha R1 donor and custom parts, another $1-1.2k for motor being BUILT and the quality build (labor $$) work from Dove Racing I am in closer to $30k. I understand I am never going to get back what I am in – on this reverse trike, but with a few other toys taking up most of my time – I would rather see this go to a good home.
