A friend's selling a 2006 Mallett Vette-engined Solstice w/720mi! :)

Think of a modern-day Cobra, that's the idea here. My friend Sam has too many cars, and doesn't have time to drive them. This is a few months old w/just over 700 miles. Posting a link for him to his ebay ad in case anyone's intrested in a unique toy. It's a $60k+ car, exact same as shown at the SEMA Show and featured in the magazines. If you need to contact him, go through the ebay ad, and if you need my help getting in touch with him, let me know with a PM.

Here's the ebay ad.

Here's the Autoweek article w/pics and info.

I'll pass on this one. It only has the 400hp N/A engine in it. I'm looking for the 600hp S/C version. :D

No doubt. :D

Hey Robert, you need a ragtop for the summer...

I would imagine that thing is a handful.

Probably is really fun. I have a friend who started Monster Motorsport back in the early 90's, putting v8's into Miatas. I drove a couple, and gotta say, it's really hard to get that ridiculous grin off your face. :D

Lots of power, great sound, light and tossable. This car's probably much like that but more refined.

That poor chasis will be like jello.

The new Solstice drift car is putting out over 500hp on the same chassis. Automobile mag reported "The hydroformed spaceframe is rock solid and shows no hint of cowl shake, itchy trim, or door rattle." Many would like to say this is a cheap car that drives like a cheap car, but that simply isn't the case.

Really? Seriously, my wife really digs the look of this car. But I am afraid it may fall apart.

It's a very sharp looking design, IMO. The interior should have more upscale materials, but the layout is decent. The exterior is a knockout. Whenever I see one, I keep looking at it, looks good from most every angle. You should've seen the raced-out tuner Soltices at the SEMA Show, best looking car intro's there, even upstaged the two Z06's that showed up.

Chassis is very good from what I've heard, and after driving the stock version, I'd agree. Durability of materials over time, who knows. The only vehicles I've had that have lasted incredibly well long-term were Hondas, Toyotas and Lexus, but I wasn't that excited about styling or driving quality with them. It's a different motivation factor.

Im't sure it does, but keep in mind that at 3000 pounds it's only marginally lighter than a C6 so it's not like it's much quicker than a C6.

VERY cool car though.

From the Automobile Mag article:
"And with almost 500 pounds less heft curbside than the bow-tied beast, the LS2’s 400 horses and 395 lb-ft of torque make for one monstrously fast little roadster."

They must be speaking of the special "Drug Runner" special Corvette that comes packed with 331 pounds worth of coke in the trunk as the C6 Vette (not the even lighter Z06) weighs in at 3179 pounds:

169 pounds is not that big of a difference.

Again nice car.

Maybe they accounted for the extra weight of the gold chains required on the Vette driver? hilarious

I keed, I keed....I used to have a Vette, and no gold chains....I swear. ;)
