brewer, i'll have to wait and see how the AH mufflers sound before i decide to let the cargraphics go now. i should have a set of AH on the way in a few days. if i decide to sell the CG, i will let you know.
fi, the britax mod takes a lot of commitment on other fronts first. cool thing though, my daughter loves the car and constantly says 'go fast, daddy'.

So funny! My 2.5 year old daughter says, "Go, Daddy, Go!"
Do let me know if you are going to offload the Cargraphics mufflers. Actually, please let me know if you're going to keep the Cargraphics and pass along the Afterhours mufflers, too - I have been contemplating those as well.
Thanks!
Pete

depending on what i decide, i will keep you in mind. you might want to PM me, just to remind me at some point. i have a track event june 1st, so i probably won't bother to put it on until after that - unless i find some time and want the AH for the track event. either way, i should have some kind of a decision by early/mid june.
Still looking for AH mufflers? If so, I have a set I'm ready to sell. I bought them new this past March or April, installed them for a month, and decided to go with a different setup. Lemme know if you're interested!

thanks dubya, but i bought a set a little while back and have already moved on to Tubis. what did you move on to?
if i decide the Tubis aren't for me, i'm either going to look into the fabspeed supercups or doing a gundo hack of sorts on aftermarket mufflers. the awe seems to have sufficient tubing for a cross-over pipe. the gundo hack, on the stock mufflers, lets just enough exhaust gas bypass the muffler for a really great sound. not nearly as loud as straight bypass pipes, but more throaty than most aftermarket cans. i just can't see putting those big heavy mufflers back on again, so the plan is something similar with something lighter. maybe after all this, i'll come up with the next great 997 exhaust.
Tubis, huh? Niiiice!! I ended up going with GMG mufflers and high flow cats. I really like the sound so I think I'll be sticking with this setup. As for gundo hacking aftermarket mufflers, I thought about doing that with AH. I figured they're already paid for, and I was interested to hear what they'd sound like. But the GMG allure from my Audi S5 days pulled me in...
did you get the mufflers below?? if so, i'd be very interested in your impressions. i started a thread asking if anyone had any experience with these mufflers, but got no replies. if you have these, we need to talk.
first impression of the tubis is that they are still too quiet. i'm actually amazed. i have watched numerous videos where tubis sounded quite throaty, but even with my 200 cell cats and X51 headers, my tubis could be a bit too subtle.

As for impressions, I am definitely loving the GMG setup I have now, as compared to the AfterHours I started with. They have a similar design, so although GMG is what I wanted from git-go, I decided to try AH since they were almost half the price. I did like the AH sound, but it was a little too coarse/raw for me. There were days when that was perfect, but there were times when I wanted a more refined sound (like when I was in the car with someone or on the bluetooth phone). So I decided to give the GMG mufflers a shot and I liked them a little more than AH. In low RPMs, they are kinda similar... deep and throaty (more so the AH), but at high RPMs, they are different. The AH is definitely more racecar-like, mean and aggressive, whereas the GMG is more refined, kinda more higher-pitched Euro-exotic? The GMG at high RPMs kinda reminds me of stock sound a little bit, in terms of tone, but with more volume. For me, it's perfect for all my use cases. I will say the AH sounded pretty mean at the track though. It definitely turned heads.

As for your GMG impressions thread, sorry I missed it. I only recently bought the car in March and made my mods since then. I'd be happy to repost this info in your thread, if you like. I also took some install pics along the way, but it seems like there are a few DIY threads out there already, including the ones I used to help me out.
interesting too that you said the GMG are similar to the AH down low, but more subdued at high speed. what i loved about the AH was the upper range sound, but i didn't like the boomy resonance between 2-3.5k rpm. i'd like to have a more reasonable low end sound and still have that near race car sound in the upper ranges. i guess i'll keep playing with options. i'm considering that set of AWE mufflers in the classifieds to have a bypass put on, just to keep the R&D down in expense (vs doing the same to the Tubis). Still might opt to do it to the Tubis anyway.
the GMG is/was at the top of my list before the Tubis, along with possibly the Fabspeed Supercups. i know better than to trust the sound quality of relative videos/sound clips, but i thought they would at least give a reference. i have to say i don't trust them for sound now at all. i listened to lots of Tubi clips and they sounded throaty with a great acceleration sound. i'm running fab 200 cells with Tubis and they sound tame compared to what i was expecting. now, i have no idea how to view your vids - the GMG sound quiet and muffled and your AH vid doesn't sound anywhere near as loud as my AH were in person. hard to believe so much is lost over video. the GMG looks like exactly what i would build - a reasonably sized muffler with a pre-muffler bypass and yet it doesn't sound all that aggressive. again, i assume a lot is being lost over the video because your AH doesn't sound aggressive either, to me. the Tubis are wonderfully light, so i may decide to use a bypass on them and hope to get that higher pitched, aggressive sound i'm looking for.
