Anyone paint Wheel Arches and Lower skirts?
Just picked up our 2014 CD with 21" 911 Turbo wheels and wider fender arches. Thinking about painting them to match the car (White).
I'm sure people have done this and I was pretty sure I have seen pics posted, but cant seem to find them now. If you have done this, can you please post pics (before and after), approx what you paid and how the paint is holding up on those pieces. Thx |
I was thinking the same thing since mine came with the black textured pieces. I spoke to my body shop and they told me the amount of prep required to make it work was not worth it. In the end I bought the Aero kit and am having it installed. The fender ad ons from the aero kit are much different than the textured pieces. But then again I'm sure you knew that already!
Glad to see you still around after all these years! |
you mean like this? ;)
https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ine=1393543573 just look for pictures on the GTS, the sportdesign kits are standard on it. |

I mean painting the textured smaller pieces for a more subtle look. I am aware of the sports kit and GTS/Turbo etc etc, but I do not want it because its even bigger. I also do not like the molding going over the rear door in that kit. |
The painted trim was a build option and I'm pretty sure carry a different P/N.
The amount of prep work that would have to go into smoothing the texture out of the non-painted parts would be insane and more than likely they'd get damaged or not look right once they were painted. |

I have a friend who has done this exact job on another car a long time ago for me and nothing got damaged and looked amazing (matched perfectly). I actually just got a price quote back 800$ for everything which is not bad at all. Heck its done like that on my 996TT and looks OEM. I know it can be one and it has been done. I am moreso curious about how it looks :D |

How about you get a primed one ready to paint from suncoast (cost around 470$), and keep yours or even sell them

I think we are going for the Turbo S look posted above. Should be going in the shop next week .

I think we paid about 1500 for all the black textured plastic, exhaust tips and window surrounds. Pic later

I'm almost done with mine.... I chose to go OEM Aero kit. I can't believe how much stuff needs to be removed for the conversion. I should have it back before weeks end.
