It comes with formerly used, factory reconditioned 2.5 tips, the balance of the system is brand new, including all hardware and it carries our full factory lifetime warranty. Can be upgraded with 100 cell cats for an additional charge.

Did you measured the in cabin noise with the 2.5 quiet and 100cat at 120kmh (75mph)?

With my iPhone I get 84db and would consider this exhaust depending on the noise level at constant highway speed. I use my car for long distance and would prefer to stay stock if the exhaust is loud inside the cabin.

I have not done that measurement, but I can tell you that when steady cruising on the highway, the 2.5 quiet "with cats" is extremely quiet inside the cabin. We can quiet it down even more with 200 cell cats and you will barely know you have an aftermarket exhaust...until you step on it.

You may want to read some of our testimonials on the web site to see what other 6speed members have said about the sound characteristics of the 2.5. Given your concerns, if we built yours with 200 cell cats, I feel certain that you would be very pleased with the manners at all times...

 

The thing is, I think my stock exhaust is loud. I rode in a friend's 993 C4S with an aftermarket exhaust and it was quieter than my 996tt on the stock exhaust.

So I'm wondering if:
A- My car is louder than normal. Maybe some previous owner fiddled with the stock exhaust
B- I'm a sissy and should just stick with stock as everything else will be louder.

That's why I measured the Db inside the cabin. 84db inside the car is quite high. I'm wondering if anyone could chime in with data for the speedtech.

If the speedtech was quieter, knowing it has more power and sounds better, that would be a no brainer. I just need to know it will be quieter at highway speed...

 

If the stock exhaust is sounding that loud to you, you either have extremely sensitive hearing or the previous owner did something to the exhaust, such as drilled out the cats or put a hole in it at the rear. One thing you could do to check is remove a tip and see if there is evidence of a 1-2" hole cut, which allows some of the exhaust to bypass the muffling chamber.

My experience with the OEM exhaust is that you can barely hear it and any speed...
