Recently purchased a 996tt with fabspeed headers and exhaust which is a bit loud for my taste.

I'm looking to buy an exhaust that's fairly quiet with a 200cell cat as well as returning to stock headers.

Open to trades as well.. let me know what you guys got!

 

Any opinions on what exhaust you were looking at?

 

I'm pretty new to Porsches so not really sure which brands are known as the quietest. Going to do some research on the forums tonight... Also open to going back to stock exhaust and headers if anyone has those for sale.

 

Speedtech exhaust 2.5 inch (quiet), excellent exhaust and no drone, i have one and like it, got this exhaust with 200 cell hjs cat. great sound but not too loud, most people could think it's stock when you just cruise around town

 

Thanks tango! The speedtech quiet has came up a bit in my search. Just curious why you went with 200cell? Was this a custom build since I don't believe I see that option on their website.

 

Perhaps this will clear things up or at least give a little insight.

We have produced two distinctly different exhausts for the 996TT. The first generation was a twin can design (not "X") that came in a 60mm "quiet" version, as well as a 70mm standard offering which was louder. These all had 200 cell cats and were a one piece design (cats and muffler welded together as one).

Subsequently, we discontinued the twin can (Gen 1) system and designed an entirely new "X" design X-cellerator series exhaust system with several "modular" options which allow us or the customer to tailor the system for a variety of tastes and events and make quick swaps if desired. These newer, lets say Gen 2 "X" design systems all come with 100 cell cats for a performance improvement and our proprietary "X" design for improved sound quality and characteristics and are available in a variety of sound levels to suit, such as quiet, moderate, loud and competition sound levels.

In all the time we have produced the newer X-cellerator series system, I can only recall producing two X-cellerator systems with 200 cell cats and they were by special request from the customer. It is not anything we ever supplied other than by special order, so an X-cellerator X-design system with 200cpi cats would be an extremely rare find. There were many of the older 60mm quiet, 200 cell cat systems sold.

 

Mine is a 2.5 x design from speedtech that i bought from a guy in calgary

Everything is from speedtech except the 200 cell hjs cat section because the original owner made it himsefl after running catless

I really like this exhaust, i can drive 4 hours without any problem, no drone, nice sound, not too loud, def not stock

Guess I'll be on the lookout for a used Speedtech 2.5 quiet X series system. Just purchased the car and would rather spend the money on other mods vs a brand new exhaust system.
